Hi Guys,

*** So I am curious, do you try and keep your terrain separated by scale or era? ***

*** Do you buy with an eye for more then one use? ***

*** How much do you try and keep the terrain as generic as you can, always, sometimes, never? ***

I have a number of different terrain boxes:

- 6mm Polar (It will probably be renamed 6mm Hoth terrain in the near future... )
- 6mm Jungle (Most of my Vietnam terrain is here... )
- 6mm Agriworld
- 6mm Mars Forgeworld
- 6mm Ruins
- 6mm Bridges & Harbors
- 6mm Industrial Terrain
- 6mm Residential Terrain
- 6mm Historical Terrain (Anything distinctly not modern that doesn't fit elsewhere)

I also have a few boxes that just say 6mm Scenery for stuff that hasn't found a home elsewhere yet.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi CS,

CS: This may be a bit of a strange question, but I wonder if anyone has some of those magentic sheets that are used on the underside of bases?

If you have, how does it affect the stability?

For example, if I put the magentic sheet basing on the underside of the 'foot' of a Vulture flying stand, would it constantly fall over?

I don't have any problems with my magnetic basing. I use ferromagnetic steel sheet under the minis and magnetic flats in the storage containers.

The way I do it, it adds to the stability of the model.

With aircraft, I add a single magnetic disk underneath the fuselage that attaches to altitude poles or another magnet in the storage container. A single rare earth magnet makes for pretty secure storage. I also put in foam padding, of course... it pays to be overly cautious!

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Dafrca, Iblisdrax and Gang,

Iblisdrax: Yes, as a matter of fact. I have a copy of "Splinter Of the Mind's Eye." (Foster is one of my favorites)

What do you want to know about it, Maksim?

Mostly, I'm just curious about the novel. I found a copy at Goodwill for $0.49 USD and Diana remembers reading it in 1978. It's on my upcoming reading list.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Nice site. I liked the article on his home made baggage. Quite interesting. Some turned out better then others, but overall, for home made stuff, it looked good and gave his vehicles a nice "realistic" feel.

Good deal.  I found mine at a used bookstore some years ago.  A good book, well written (in my opinion) and one of the first (maybe the first) novels written after the release of Star Wars.  Of course, several things have to be taken with a grain of salt, because Lucas flat-out contradicts them later.

Enjoy!

my 2cents,

Hi Guys,

I understand that "Splinter Of the Mind's Eye" is an alternate universe that never happened (Replaced by Empire and Return... ), but I'm still looking forward to reading it. Alan Dean Foster is a prodigious writer and I've enjoyed many of his other books.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Not so sure; IIRC I have seen a timeline somewhere where the incident was put somewhere between New Hope and Empire. But that was two lost bookmark files back...  :blues:

Hi Everyone,

One of the easiest solutions to mapmaking is to buy the cheap fiberboard sheets that measure 2'x4' and buy three of them to get a 4'x6' maps. They cost about $2.00 to $3.00 USD and can be covered with cheap latex house paint.

My Mars Forgeworld was built for slightly over $12.00 USD amd I have plenty of paint left over.

It's also easily storable (The boards stand up behind a door... ) and replaceable if they break. As long as I've been careful with storage, warping hasn't been a problem.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
