Hi Iblisdrax,

*** Which book are the idol rules in? ***
I have the original MI book, and the "Escape from Monster Island" is on its way.

I believe that they are in "Escape from Monster Island" book.

I seem to recall that GMR has their rules for special characters in the second book as well.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Guys,

I found it interesting to look over my old 2005 New Year's resolutions on this thread:

http://www.epic40k.co.uk/epicomm....3;st=40

Here they are in the making around November to December 2004:

I've been pondering what sorts of New Year's Resolutions I want to make for the upcoming year (2005).

These are not my final concrete resolutions, but:

- I want to run a Giant Monster-type Godzilla game next year at CONQUEST 2005 so polishing off some terrain and getting some monsters based is a plan.

- I want to make sure I have at least 1,500 points of based E-A Crimson Fists for next year, 2005.

- I'd like to build and base at least 1'x1' of urban terrain. ?

- I'd like to put the finishing touches on my Mars Forgeworld and Agri-world terrain boards.

- It would be nice to do some 6mm ancients wargaming.

- I'd like to work some more on my burgeoning Tyranid army including scratch-building some Synapse Nodes.

And my final draft as of 2 January 2005:

2 January 2005:
- I've now made my New Year's Resolutions for the upcoming year (2005).

These are my final resolutions:

1. HOBBY - I will run a Giant Monster-type Godzilla game this year at CONQUEST 2005 so polishing off some terrain and getting some monsters based is the plan.

2. HOBBY - I will build and base at least 1'x1' of urban terrain. ?

3. HOBBY - I'd like to work some more on my burgeoning Tyranid army including scratch-building some Synapse Nodes. Part of this resolution will be to finish the Nid list that I have been working on for E-A.

4. PERSONAL - I want to get by the gym more often; the new job this year killed my good routine. I am vowing to go at least once a week and more realistically try for twice a week.

5. PERSONAL - I resolve to keep a cleaner apartment. To do this, I plan to do "maintenance" cleaning once a week on Sundays. I'm also planning on making Sunday "laundry day."

6. JOB - I want to run a good science elective for the students for the rest of the year and I'm looking into ways to do it.

And my progress as of 7 June 2005:

Hi CS,

1. HOBBY - I will run a Giant Monster-type Godzilla game this year at CONQUEST 2005 so polishing off some terrain and getting some monsters based is the plan.

I've got most of the materials and am in process of putting them together.

I still haven't decided on rules yet... probably "Monster Island."

2. HOBBY - I will build and base at least 1'x1' of urban terrain.

I'm most of the way there.

3. HOBBY - I'd like to work some more on my burgeoning Tyranid army including scratch-building some Synapse Nodes. Part of this resolution will be to finish the Nid list that I have been working on for E-A.

I've done this and am close to finishing the E-A 'Nid playtest list. Of course, there's always more but the resolution was to work on the project, not complete it!

4. PERSONAL - I want to get by the gym more often; the new job this year killed my good routine. I am vowing to go at least once a week and more realistically try for twice a week.

Nope.

5. PERSONAL - I resolve to keep a cleaner apartment. To do this, I plan to do "maintenance" cleaning once a week on Sundays. I'm also planning on making Sunday "laundry day."

Yes.

6. JOB - I want to run a good science elective for the students for the rest of the year and I'm looking into ways to do it.

Yes.

And here are some projects I thought about or worked on as of 21 May 2005:

I've been working on a couple of 6mm sci-fi projects lately (21 May 2005):

--------------------------------

1. Battle of Hoth:

PLASTIC KITS & MECHWARRIOR GAMING PIECES: I have been assembling a Hoth force using a mixture of AMT/ERTL/MPC Battle of Hoth action Scene figures and cheap Mechwarrior Clickie-tech TM figures.

10mm METAL MINIS: Several manufactuerers do make 10mm metal miniatures including Reaper's CAV, AOG's OOP GROPOS, DP-9's Heavy Gear and others.

CHEAP MECHWARRIOR 10mm FIGURES: I like some of those 10mm metal miniatures but went with the mix of plastic model kit figures and Mechwarrior clickie figures because they were extremely affordable. I can get Mechwarrior Clickie figures for a US Dollar or less a figure and often for a US quarter or less. Most Mechwarrior figures come with three to five infantry on them and when I cut them out and base them on 3/8", 1/2" or 3/4" inch fender washers then they really go far.

STANDARD FENDER WASHER BASING: I have based them either singly for partial squads or in multiples (3-5) for heavy squads. Heavy weapon teams are based on larger fender washers to fit everyhting.

ODD INFANTRY BASING: The plastic AMT/ERTL/MPC Taun-tauns fit pretty well on 1/2" fender washers. Most heavy equipments (Imperial E-web repeating blasters, Imperial AT-ST walkers, Rebel Atgar defense lasers, Rebel Golan Defence Turrets, Rebel heavy repeating blasters, etc.) are based on 3/4" or 1" fender washers.

AT-AT BASING: The AMT/ERTL/MPC AT-ATs have custom bases to fit their elongated walker forms.

AT-ST MODELS: I'm using a mix of the AMT/ERTL/MPC AT-STs and Micro Machines AT-STs.

REBEL SNOWSPEEDERS: I'm using a mix of the AMT/ERTL/MPC snowspeeders and Micro Machines snowspeeders.

ECHO STATION: I am using a customized Micro Machines toy base for Echo Station.

REBEL GENERATOR: I am using the vacuform generators for this piece. I may use some pieces made for my 6mm Epic minis as well.

REBEL ION CANNON: I am using a piece cut off my Micro Machines toy base for this model.

REBEL STARSHIP FLEET: I am using a mix of AMT/ERTL/MPC Millenium Falcons and Rebel Transports as well as some Micromachine Electronic Collectors Edition Rebel Blockade Runners (Corellian Corvettes) for the Rebel fleet escaping Hoth.

RULES: I have been playing with either using the WEG "Assault on Hoth" game rules or a DIRTSIDE II adaption. Both have pros and cons. I have also tried a few home-brew sets.

RESOLUTION: I made a New Year's resolution to complete this project this year (2005). That's one of the reasons I started this E-group - SSSW ? SSSW (Small Scale Star Wars) Wargaming - to help me share ideas and keep me motivated.

URL for SSSW:

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/SSSW/

DS-II ADAPTION / RULES:

I've been modifying and editing the document found here for an improved trial run of the rules. I've run the scenario twice and enjoyed it, but the scenario could use a facelift:

http://www.cygnusx1.info/ds2/multiverse ... p#vehicles

-----------------

2. Epic-Armageddon: Tyranid and IG armies and rules...

As several of you know, I was put in charge of writing the rules for Tyranids in the Epic-Armageddon game system and I have been steadily playtesting and writing lists over at the official site for that game.

TYRANID ARMY:
- I have been continually building and modifying a "bio-bug" Tyranid army for use with Epic-Armageddon, DS-II and other 6mm sci-fi game systems. I've been including a number of proxy figures from other miniature systems so my Nid army is pretty nonstandard!

IG JOPALLI ARMY:
- I've been working on this army for some time and have most of it built and primed. the Jopalli IG army unts are originally from a poor overpopulated planet and wear a swamp-type camouflage. They are known for their cunning and deviousness. I have been building them largely as a mechanized unit with Chimera APCs.

----------------------------

3. Giant Monster Games:

METROPOLIS:
- I've been building up some skyscrapers and other terrain for use in a Godzilla-type game.

GIANT MONSTER CLUB:
- ?I've been slowly basing and painting a variety of monsters to stomp the city.

New Avalon Hill game: Monsters Menace America!
- I have the original version and am looking forward to picking up a copy of the new edition when I am able to do so. It looks very good and I loved the original.

----------------------------

4. STARSIEGE - REBELLION:

- I've collected a small pile of these minis and haven't decided what to do with them yet.

----------------------------

5. STAR FRONTIERS - KNIGHTHAWKS:

- A friend of mine just sold me some of these minis at a very reaonable price and I've always wanted some. They have a great pulp sci-fi look to them and I have many fond memories fo Star Frontiers from the 1980s.

- The Sathar are a perfect match for the worm minis sold by Gladiator Games in the UK.

-----------------------------

6. Traveller - COACC!

- I bought a copy of the COACC book recently (found a deal on E-bay) and would like to run the campaign out of that book in the far future after I finish my two New Years Resolution projects: Monster games and the battle of Hoth.

- At Wishing Well, they had some great miniature aircraft that cost about 10 US cents a piece and my girlfriend bought me a small pile of them!

-----------------------------

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

P.S.
I've noticed that I left off my resolution to play and run a "Star Wars: Battle of Hoth game"... Maybe I made that one later... ?:)

Hi Guys,

I've been rereading an old favorite:

"Duel For the Golan" by Jerry Asher and Eric Hammel, an old favorite about the desperate fighting between the Syrians and Israelis on the Golan Heights during the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

It's one of those books that takes very few sittings since it really engages me.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I don't want to fight "Gorzirra" or rule the Galaxy...

I'd just like to get off meds, get my head straight and forget about someone/things...

It may be easier to conquer Gojira and the Galaxy... ?:{

Hi Ralph,

L-4: I'd just like to get off meds, get my head straight and forget about someone/things...

Keep up your exercise regime and stay away from young women, my friend...

My rule was 10 up and 5 down (meaning stay with women up to 5 years younger than you or up to 10 years older than you...)!

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

That is easy... I'm still training (lightly) 6 days a week and dieting... and well... we stopped talking over a month ago and she quit coming to the gym two weeks ago.

Too bad we couldn't even remain friends but that's the way reality is... I have not been involved with females in a over a decade... now I remember why... :{ ?:;): ?

I don't have much in common with women and with women around my age, I even have less in common!

Well, I've got a lot of Epic to work on, books to read, etc., and I still want to be under 200lbs by Dec. -

So I "gots lots" to keep me busy! :D

Hi Tas,

Maksim- you should be most pleased with a 5 frm 6 strike rate!
Congrats!

Thanks!

I actually figured that I'm around the 4 out 6 mark, but that's still good! :)

Shalom,

Thanks, Tas!!! Will do! :;): ?

And M/S, the only thing wrong with 10 up is I'm not going out with women who are nearing 60!?!! ?

I'm not going to be Gramma's boyfriend!!! ?

Not to mention the physical aspect!! :o ?

I'm so shallow! :{ ?

I limit myself to around my age or younger. Of course when my friend and I started to spend time together I was not looking for anything, save for more Epic!!! ?

Damn Slanneshi Deamonettes!

Hi L-4,

I'm imagining that she didn't think of your time with her as "together" time with you. She probably just wanted a trainer or somesuch.

You might try going out with older women, they tend to have their heads much more firmly attached to their shoulders... :)

That shallow stuff is... well... shallow. :;):

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Well that's not quite true, as we spent a lot of time together that had nothing to do with business...

I'm slow but not stupid! :D ?

But it is history... as for older women... at this point it just don't matter! :;): ?

Enough on this subject... now I'm just whining! :;):

Hi L-4,

Well... all that stuff doesn't matter. We're your friends and we'll stand by you. I just don't want you to get hurt by spending too much time with women who are too young for you.

As a side note, when you get to be the "grandpa" age then you have to date the "grandma-age" women!  :p

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
