Zombietown Massacre - Part III

My friend Vince is hosting his infamous "ZOMBIE TOWN" game today at 1:00pm.

Here is a quote from him:

Then you ought to stop by our Zombietown Massacre game tomorrow at Great Escape (1pm - ?). ?Mikos found and painted up a fat guy in a baseball cap, and I just got finished with the following character card:

---

Michael Moron

Filmmaker

Str: 9

You?ve got the Bush administration by the short hairs this time! ?You?re on the scene, and you?ll soon have the footage that will bring down Republicans, gun manufacturers, corporations, that annoying Parker/Stone duo, and pretty much everything that makes America different from Europe, by exposing their complicity in the Zombietown Massacre. ?You think maybe you?ll call it ? Bowling for Zombietown.

Earn as many points as you can for good footage, then escape alive. ?Here?s what you?re after:

* Ambush Interview: ?1 pt for asking hard questions, 1 more point if the interviewee is at least nominally conservative, 2 more points if interview implicates Bush, Republicans, Gun Owners, or Corporate America. ?Leading questions are OK, as are bald assertions, so long as your target doesn?t have a good response. ?One interview per target.

* Zombies attacking: ?2 pts. ?Good ?horror factor,? and you can blame it all on Bush.

* Zombies not attacking: 1 pt. ?Will support your claim that zombies are a peaceful people that never attacked America.

* Human putting up valiant, successful defense: ?3 pts. ?Requires one person to bring down at least two zombies in the turn while under your camera. ?You can later dub John Kerry onto the scene and say it?s Vietnam footage.
---

I, of course, have plans to attend... :)

Shabbat Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

This is my friend Vince's website:

23 October 2004. Maksim: This is one of the best sites on the web full of photographs of 6mm sci-fi battles using Dirtside, a wide variety of 28mm sci0fi and fantasy games, some post-apocalyptic 28mm games, the infamous ZOMBIE TOWN games as well as a good variety of other material. Vince is one of the most prolific gamers I know and is also one heck of a nice guy!

The good news is that it's the weekend and that the children are finally starting to come together. We ended Friday on a very good note.

I am glad things ended on a good note.

It is nice to do that, it does help to compensate for all of the other stuff.

Hi Daniel,

Dafrca: Your friend has a nice site. Let him know I had fun looking through it.

I'll let him know today at ZOMBIE TOWN MASSACRE III!  :;):

It should be very fun. The cameos always make the game rock! That and I love DISCO!  :p

Shabbat Shalom,

Hi!

Thank God I don't do your work, Maksim!

I don't have the talent or the stomach for it... :D

Hi!

Frickin' insane!

Who came up with the idea?

Original idea and looks like loads of fun!

Are there any set rules or home grown?

Great stuff!

Wow, that Zombie Town concept rocks!! ?

Speaking of such things...

I loved 28 days later. Even better because I went to see anouther film got it wrong and saw something I was not expecting. I love films when I have no idea until I see it.

I hate promos!

Have not seen the American one yet.

Cheers.

Great site, Maksim!

Neat models, funny narratives and I've been to Barstow! Right up the road from Fort Irwin! The high desert and the US Army's Desert Warfare School! Been there 3 times!

Let the Nazis, Zombies, etc. have it! :p :;):

Hi Primarch,

---

Who came up with the idea?

Basically, the group of guys that I regularly game with in Sacramento are a very twisted lot. :)

Marcus is sort of the "Grand Poobah," but Vince, Mike, Dave and even me help out a lot. Most of the terrain belong to Vince, Mike, Dave and Marcus.

I volunteered to rebase the cactus / cacti on 1" fender washers and to retexture there bases so that they will stand better. That's my contribution this year (for next year... the event is annual... usually the weekend before Halloween, my birthday! :) ).

---

Original idea and looks like loads of fun!

It's really fun. Even better, Marcus cut his own soundtrack CD and has all kinds of cool sound effects to play throughout the game as well as music such as Thriller, Night of the Living Dead, disco, 80s "big-hair" music, The Beverly Hillbillies theme song (for the Redneck Zombie killers...) and much more.

---

Are there any set rules or home grown?

The rules are very simple and are home-brew. MArcus rewards creativity and half the locations on the board seem to be explosive (Gas station blowing up, chemical plant blowing up, etc.). It's a very Hollywood cliche horror movie production put on by real gamers.

---

Great stuff!

Thanks!

---

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Markco,

---

*** What movie did people like better - 28 Days Later (British), or the recent Dawn of the Dead (American)? ***

I thought that "28 Days Later" was passable although the low production values were annoying at times.

I haven't seen the American film so I have no basic for comparison.

Of course, I'm going to vote for "Army of Darkness" anyway because that is a great campy film!

I think that I need to build a "S-Mart" for my Epic city board... :)

---

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I learned some cool modelling techniques at the ZOMBIE TOWN MASSACRE III (23 October 2004) game:

---

1. TAR ROOFS for EPIC Buildings: Tissue with watered-down wood glue makes an awesome roof topper.

---

2. SPRITZING UP AT-1 Hard-Foam Buildings: Plasticard brick walls and tile look good in ANY scale.

---

3. PORTABLE CITYSCAPE Base: Vinyl AKA Nagahyde makes an awesome protable city base... much more portable than my current hardboard set-up.

---

4. CHEAP "EASY-TO-DO" RUBBLE (That Rolls!): Fleckstone is awesome for making rubble. It also clings to the Nagahyde surface so that the vinyl can still be rolled. City rubble and a rollable portable surface! Awesome! :D

---

5. CITY BLOCKS ON THE CHEAP: Taping off squares on the vinyl roll and then spraypainting them gray is enough to give the suggestion of city blocks. Spraying fleckstone over the "block" areas makes the city look unkept with rubble.

---

6. I'M MOTIVATED & INSPIRED: I want to try out some of these techniques with an Epic city board. I also want to try out some of the techniques with plasticard and glue-tissue with the hard-foam buildings that came with Adeptus Titanicus.

---

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

P.S.
I also posted this thread in the terrain forum so please respond to this post in the terrain forum. Everything else is fair game for this "Maksim" thread!  :D
