Actually, back in the day I did this. Before I moved on to SM2, I tried to create a system to retrofit new units in SM2 that werent in SM1. I did this by comparing the point values of all the similar units, and their move speed, caf, etc. A lascannon is a lascannon so if a unit had one, I just used its stat in SM1 regardless what it did in SM2. I spent HOURS on these sheets but it was winter in Buffalo so what else did I have to do. But ultimately, if a unit moved 10cm in SM2, you would look up that move on our chart and find 10/16.
The interesting thing was, we got pretty close when we dug up rules we missed in old White Dwarf articles. An in some we were way off, but most of those were real outliers. An with some, they were just too complicated to bother. I wish I kept all those sheets, but you'd prob have a good laugh at them realizing all the time I put into them.
So with Aspect Warriors, we already have shuriken pistols, shuriken catapults, missile launchers, meltagun... And I think thats all you need. The trick is how do you incorporate scorpion mandi blasters and so on. I guess just kicking up the caf would be fine in most cases, and making them elite. Give them back their shuriken pistols too.
The hardest thing is determining their worth.
Hi!
This will be the last comment I make regarding this, so as not to derail the thread.
We can talk through PM or off forums if you'd like.
As for the points cost, now that one has been made for net epic platinum, I think it would be easier to modify one to use for 1st edition since there are less variables.
After my read through, the heavier lift will be to fix the horrible close combat rules (so many changes were added in the articles that it became a real mess) and introduce fliers and aerial combat into the system.
I have ideas for all these things, but it will take a good chunk of time to lay them all out.
I just found new appreciation for those rules. There are things represented there I wish were kept. It has a degree of detail and "grittiness" that was lost in older version.
I'll try to "fill in the holes" while I strive to maintain its uniqueness.
