This is something I have also been waiting for when I saw some of the masters at GamesDay.

I did in fact mention these on my website http://www.ifelix.co.uk/show003.html but was rebuffed by some people.

Sounds great.

Do you have a release date?

Hergrmir - Thanks, that makes things easier, as the downloads that I have are therefore correct. I dont want to pile money into many rules as really I will only play the occassional game and paint the minis.

The LotR game sounds very interesting, but I will just play the minis with the existing Warmaster rules. I guess that it will be about 4 hours before someone puts together stats for the LotR minis.

I've seen the masters and believed :)

What was unexpected was that...

a) they're going to be plastic
b) it looks like the project is fairly advanced. I wasn't expecting it anytime soon.

Now I just need to know where's that Man O' War (Warmaster) resurrection got to?

Sorry to derail the thread to yet another topic, but did anyone ever identify where the ziggarat models in Jimbo's pics came from?

It was mentioned in Warmaster Magazine... issue #20 IIRC but alas it is upstairs and my son is asleep.

If I was one of those people, I humbly appologise. At the time there were a lot of people seeing resing master for new metal minis & claiming they were going to be plastics so I was probably very sceptical - you were, as you "almost always" are, correct!

There are a few way to kill characters in WM

1) If they are with a unit, destroy the unit and the character dies with it.

2) If they aren't with a unit, you can move over an enemy character with one of your units, the MUST make a move upto 30cm to join a friendly unit. If there are none in range the character is destroyed

3) If they are with a unit which gets forced off the edge of the table, there is a chance they will be destroyed along with the unit (you have to roll on the leaving the battle table on PG23).

As for the characters speed, part of that is as already mentioned, its much easier to manovure a character with a few escorts than a large number of troops.

Another reason is that characters only ever get to move once per turn, where as other units can be moved to or move times (more than 2 is very hard to achive though).

And Characters in Warmaster are basically a "token" piece, the position of the model doesn't nessacarily represent the postion of teh character himself. It could be his messengers riding on horses, carrier piegoons etc. And since characters aren't uber close combat monsters like in WHFB\WH40K and are only available in limited numbers, it doesn't unbalance the game to make them not directly attackable.

The army lists in the 2003 annual are the same as on the WM website (I don't have the annual, but quite a few ppl have confirmed this on other forums).

The lizardman list is supposed to be getting updated soon (apparently it had some balance problems). Other than that, non of the other official lists are supposed to be changing any time soon.

AFAIK the skaven list is still in the trial stages (I haven't read it since its not on the website).

Stayed with a friend in Nottingham last night (great night out to be had in that City!) & went to the Fanatic Studio on Tues.

Among other little things, I got to see the 10mm LotR sprues  . Great stuff & I can see I'll be splashing out far too much on them. The Rules will aparently be based on Warmaster including some of the errata which have been made to the main rules since their release. All sounding good!

Hmm....

I have to say that I copy & pasted the original list of sprues & info from a post on the Euro GT list. I didnt see any ruins sprues inthe studio - but they're probably trying to keep some things as a surprise for us all I guess  :D
