Hi!
We'll where everyone else hails from, but the last time I polled for this, I got the distinct impression there were more active epic gamers on the west coast.
We'l see.

Primarch | Odd, I keep being told by many of the game manufacturers that the reason West Coast Cons do not work is because the majority is on the East Coast. Very odd.
I wonder why your past poll showed more on this coast?

Hi!
I beleive there are more gamers overall inthe US in the east coast, thats why CON's do better towards the middle and east coast than the west. But as for epic players, at least the more vocal ones, seem to herald from the west coast, mainly California. Now this doesn't mean the are more epic players there, but at least hose responded heralded from there.
Perhaps this thread will show a truer slant as to epic players location.

Primarch | I think this may be one part os one of the many peculiarities that I have noticed in the online epic (& wargaming in general) community.
A lot of those people who are most involved in online stuff, be it websites, forums or groups such as Netepic aren't actually those who do a lot of gaming. Those who do a lot of actual gaming dont have time to be making themselves known online.
It is thus Ironic that those who get best "known" as epic/BFG/etc supporters are generally those who do the least gaming. Thus, the few on the west coast are further dispersed and find themselves without oponents and so have time for forums such as this, whereas on the east coast, there are enough gamers to keep people occupied and they dont venture online or make their voices heard - they're too busy actually taking part inthe hobby to stop and talk about it.
Anyone see what I mean or have I just managed to confuse everyone else as well as myself?

But I think it is not as tilted to the East Coast as the industry likes to make it sound. I think it is we lack the true winter to force us inside
Really though, I think it is a matter of what you like to do and what kind of exchange you want.
Take myself as a case. I am part of a group of eight guys who meet most Saturday Nights to play. (ages 25 to 41, 5 married, 3 not)
When I saw Epic was returning I started to look into it. I bought some minis etc. When the group found out, they all spoke about how much they liked the "idea" of epic. To make this story short, we now have three to four games going once a week with a couple of the guys playing some games durring the week.
Of these eight people I am the only one active on this board and the most active on the playtest board. One other player posts once in a while on the playtest board, but for the most part I have not seen any of them here.
just a thought...

Hi!
I gather your meaning Tuff, I'm a case in point. I do very little gaming and yet have a "well known" online presence. I also know, by means of anecdotal tales, of many gaming groups that play netepic, even have held "tournies" for it, but none of its members belong to the netepic mailing list (I found out by means of casual conversions on other forums). So, in truth, there are a large amount of players out there with no online presence.
Darfca, What you describe, I think is very common and thus those of us online represent a small minority. But very vocal!

My friend surfs the 40K nets - and some of those guys are "less evolved" ... but they're wrapped around a rule system that is very purile and not very logical or "realistic", per se... IMO. It panders to the comic book crowd that "likes bright shiny things" so in G/Ws mind from a sales/$ standpoint ... it works. Sorry if I sound a bit pompous, that was not my intention, but that's the way I see it ...

As someone who played WH40k for many years I am not offended by your observation, I agree with it. ?
One of the things I loved about the game was 90% of the thought needed to play was in the list building. So I could have a few army lists already built and in my "army box" with the figures.
Someone asked to play a game I could pull out the list I wanted, place down some minis and play with very little thought needed. No need to worry about tactics, just charge and roll the dice. He who tricked out his list the best wins.
That has been my experiance after many years.

Sounds like I'm in for some backwards evolution. Started with Historicals (WWII and Napolionics), moved on to WHFB 3rd ed, then to epic scale & some other weird games & amonly just making the move into WH40K and back to WHFB.......
Oh well, less brain power has seemed appealing lately.....
