Oh shooting between legs and stuff is fine!

Ironically unrealistically high sided tanks have a vital role in 40k now!

I've no idea why you should be looking down upon this.

You realise Warhammer 40,000 is a game for kids, right?

Why? Typically in my experience that sort of precision being introduced into a game is bad news. It encourages argument, gamey positioning and detracts from the flow of the game.

I think its a sad state of affairs if a couple of 14 year olds can't decide about LOS without getting laser pointer pens out.

Especially when 40k seems to have a when in doubt have a save mentality now.

It's not nessesary for the game at all ; It's a little 'fun' thing for the kids, and hardly something to scorn, IMHO.

Maybe I'm not cynical enough to play Epic.  :D

Something which has been joked about for as long as the technology has existed and DBM players learnt human speech is now available for a game.

I've a sonic screwdriver - kicks the snot out of a crappy markerlight :D.

Chap L, your Barretta only puts a red dot on the target ... the G/W pointer has a circle with cross hairs ! I saw it in the new W/D !  :p  Even more high tech then the Predator's 3 dot Triangle ! :alien:  It's a gimick for the computer savvy teenagers who play 40K because never played any other "war"games but HALO and Duke Nuc'm ! Good marketing ploy on G/W's part.  Regardless if they are sold out ...  It's a 21st version of "bright shiny things" marketing.  Just like SM2 was a success because all the circus colored toys in red, blue, yellow, etc. attracted the "Kids". The rules were designed to attract the kids to play with mass colorful armies on the board, more like Napoleonics but packing high tech  weapons. With purile rules ... it was a game ... not a wargame.  And that's what 40K has pretty much always been, IMO. So by adding "pretty" colored lights is the next logical step ... Who knows what G/W will come up with next to sell to their 21st fanboy gamers ?  Instead of dice, maybe an electronic random number generator that calls out the numbers ...  :D

But the Beretta has a pulsing laser!  How about a holographic target reticle then? :)

Chaplain, stop tormenting that poor puss! ?
Or I'll train my own laser on you, and you won't like it one little bit. 9kW.....
?

Mind you, it's not exactly Quickdraw McGraw stuff here, takes twenty minutes to get primed for shooting if it's off to begion with... :p

Meanwhile (positive Monday morning hat on) how does that thing (the GW pointer, not the cat) compare in size to a 28mm scale titan? No prizes for guessing what I'm thinking....

Alternatively van you could cut a filter for a light/led/laser and stick it on?

It's about the length of a finger I think.

Instead of the annoying laser pointers, why not bring back the old periscopes?  Some were pretty darn cool.

chaplain,

don't give them ideas, next thing you know they'll be selling your spaghetti box periscope, but it will have an aquilla on the side, be £45.00 and called an imperial baneblade commanders scope......

regards

jim
