Otterman's Occasional Rant

Eh, I don't know about that. Glyn sent a box that arrived in a week, similarly for Otherworld.

The converse may be true in the other direction - when I first started sending stuff to England, boxed items appeared to travel faster than padded envelopes.

International post seems to be much slower these days. I imagine it is a factor of load and increased security checking. I know it is extremely frustrating!

what is particularly frustrating is when you buy two parcels from one place at the same time, and one arrives on a friday morning...

Apoc's stalk tanks arrive in 4 days. Just 4! Apparently some leg of the journey is entirely confused by Registered mail.

it's the cardboard - dead easy to disguise explosives as cardboard, really hard to make it look like bubblewrap.

that's my guess anyway. You could try writing "this isn't explosive you congenital imbecile" on it and see where that gets you, might help.

Oh, that's a good idea. I'll have to remember that.

The GW website has sections marked "Specialist Games: New Release" and "Specialist Games: Advance Orders". Of course, these fields have been blank for years, and will probably be blank until the next geological epoch.

So, GW, cram it with walnuts.

Hey, dipshits on CMon, your miniature has a name. Stop calling it "Another Mini"! I don't understand how someone can ravish their miniature into getting a score of 8+ and not give more than 3 seconds consideration to its name.

Where are the new Necrons? The guys who schedule products at Games Workshop should go eat a bag of dicks.

Primary current excuse/reason for tin price increase is that most tin is currently mined in Indonesia, there was some bad weather, and the mines got flooded.
Other possible reasons are Chinese hording of raw materials, currency manipulations by the various 'players', and speculations on commodities by people trying to make money with their capital.
Actual demand may be a factor too (but probably isn't the primary reason for the current prices).

The problem may rather be that there's simply less tin able to be produced these days. It's likely GW saw the way things were going, hence their move to failcast finecast.

In other happier news I see your Otter kin are doing well :)
