Quote (vanvlak @ 08 Feb. 2006 (20:09)) | Quote (QuintAan @ 08 Feb. 2006 (19:53)) | I'll have to check, but I'm pretty sure all Craftworld Eldar and Exodite Eldar carry spirit stones to capture their soul should they die. The Craftworld Eldar release the spirit into the Infinity Circuit while the Exodites release theirs in the Worldstone of the settlement IIRC. |
Correct QuintAan - in one of the Epic SM supplements a bit of fluff pitting Chaos against the Eldar had a Keeper of Secrets eat the soulstone of a Banshee, resulting in her losing her life in the circuit. But it's a soulstone, not a spirit stone. I think... |
At that time it was a _waystone_. It was called that way because it was only a temporary storage, used before the soul could be put to the infinity circuit. The Spirit stone was (is?) a more permanent thing used to contain the souls of wraithguard and wraithlord "pilots".

Quote (primarch @ 09 Feb. 2006 (01:29)) | Can you share more info about the actual fluff CS? | The book itself is fairly formulaic. A brief autopsy with notes, then a couple of pages of the Inquisitor in the library digging out background notes, then a sliver of ongoing plot dragging it all together, before another autopsy. The plot is a rogue Inquisitor with an alien zoo, which is then discovered and systematically destroyed.
Therefore, the fluff in the traditional sense is limited. However, there are strange links between the species (the Tau are linked to a new alien species... via the Eldar, making the Eldar the most likely cause of the Tau rapid development).
The Astropath 'communes' with Eldar equipment, mentioning the 'silver horde re-arisen'. Some of the stuff is old news to GW players, but new to the Inquisition, and some is conjecture which we, as players, know is correct but the Inquisition are not confirmed about.

Finished reading. Some interesting info, including...
Spoiler warning
Some more info on the Hrudd, who seem to behave like Skaven, but look totally different.
If anyone has specific questions, drop me a PM.

If anyone has specific questions, drop me a PM. | There must be a mistake... they are not the Hrudd I know... they must be another race that got mistaken for Hrudd. The Hrudd I know are shorter, have a tri section jaw, use dark age technology and are not quite in the same temporal dimension as the rest of reality, meaning you most of the time you catch them out of the corner of your eye and that planets with Hrudd infestations have problem with things decaying faster.

The Hrudd in Xenology do have some kind of 'phase shift' although it is not known by the book characters what it is, just that it makes them difficult to see 'even in a room with no shadow' and they speculate whether this is physical, psychic, etc.
The pictures also give them a 'Predator' style jaw. I think that they may have 'evolved'! The Hrudd in the book is also covered with decaying matter, and the creature begins to decay right from death, making it difficult to perform the autopsy.
It actually sounds like the author did his homework!

It is not the right build or size to carry the Fussil which is already in inquisitor. They are not cloaked, as in wearing cloaks which was always part of their design. And the jaw was more beaklike.
