Its your solemn right and duty to buy more than you need, and to swap wargaming genres and game systems every couple of months.

I (and most here I imagine) have mountains of lead and plastic form ancients to medieveals, WW2 and Mderns to SF and Fastay all waiting for love.  Besides, it gives you trading currency!  :D

I avoid getting into any other games solely because Epic and 40K is enough. I have a goal to build a massive Epic Scene, collecting any others would just get in the way.

Also never really got into Warhammer. I have several boxes of Orks, and High Elves, but just never could get into painting these. The most I would consider is trying to build a sorta fellowship of heros (to represent the players from back in my D&D and RPG days).

It seems I'm not alone, which is good. Now, to redirect my wife to this thread... :D

On my "schedule" (using the word loosely here) :
- finishing the Ultramarines Chapter, or at the very least the five first Companies and support vehicles. I'd estimate my work at around 15% done.
- redoing my Alaitoc army mostly from scratch (I used a color scheme closer to Iyanden than to Alaitoc previously). I'm waiting for my FW Falcons and Wave Serpents to arrive.
- I've tons of IG and Orks I need to paint one day, especially IG infantry (I have a good amount of tanks and artillery painted, but nearly no infantry). Orks I've enough to play already, so it's lower priority.
- I have bought a large amount of Taus (over ?250), and painted exactly one Fire Warriors stand.
- Got small-medium fleets for Space Marines and Corsair Eldars in BFG. Painted a grand total of one Strike Cruiser so far :O
- Plus some heaps of Chaos and Tyranides, very, very low on the priority list
- FW scenery (including the Cathedral)

I know that come February I'll not be able to resist the new Eldar range, but after that and a CWE Fleet for BFG (and perhaps a bit of Feral Orks, I always loved those), I should be good to go for a little while.

/me thinks I need some professional help (and I do not mean a professional painter) :p

My Tau would have amounted much more, but luckily I wasn't so keen on the Kroot.

Yeah, I agree with ya, come Feb, I'll be purchasing a lot of Eldar too, the reaon why I'll be concentrating on painting my Eldar army after my Chaos force.

Luckily (well, maybe) I'm away most of Feb on Holiday, so hopefully I'll be so lacking in money that I'll still go and purchase a whole load of Eldar stuff anyway.

Ah- more kindred spirits.

The current count goes 15 W40k armies, 7 WFB divisions, 4 Epic armies, 5 BFG Fleets, 5 Slaughterloo divisions, 2 WAB armies.

Of which probably 3 are fully painted and a couple almost so.

Painting projects for new year:
Epic IG (Armageddon Steel Legion)
BFG IN (Battlefleet Armagedden)
Epic SM (Blood Angels)
BFG SM (Blood Angels)
BFG Chaos (Iron Warriors)
W40k Chaos (Iron Warriors)

Cheers

James

Oh yeah, I Hoard all right! I'm Forever seeing minis (or occasionally complete armies - if they're cheap!!) & think "That would be so cool to paint - I can sell it on ebay if needs be so it won't be wasted" & never find the time for it! Off the top of my head I currently have:
More epic than you could shake a gargant at.
An Eldar 40K army I bought to paint & sell. 1 whole model is done.
OOP 40K IG - approximately half the army is painted, the rest I've yet to start.
LotR - double what I've completed I've yet to do.
About 100 28mm ancients.
300 15mm WWII infantry & artillery.
50 odd 28mm WWII inf.
About 80 Empire for WHFB + 8 artillery pieces.
I almost forgot my entire WHFB savage Orc army (300 models or so).
about 200 miscellaneous 15mm Fantasy figs & a couple of dozen war engines for them.
24 28mm US Rangers from TAG
30 or so "Hasslefree" miniatures from various ranges.
Maybe 150 other miniatures which I bought cheap as one off's to paint (Rackham, Void, Reaper, Fenryl, Spyglass - name a manufacturer, I've probably got at least one of their figs!).

That's quite a sary list & I havent even gone to look or mentioned current commissions...... :O

I should point out that I NEVER pay more than a quid for a metal figure (with the exception of the Hasslefree pieces) & usually only buy if I can get them for 60p or less. :D

i feel like an amateur lol

epic:
chaos, majority of infantry is sprayed black nothing else is.
eldar, a 1/4 is painted.
dark angels, well most of it is green :D
IG, all virgin models about 4 to 5k
a warlord and 2 warhound titans.
nids, 2k untouched

wh40k:
deathwing mostly painted, 5k
khorne army some undercoated, 3k
nurgle army untouched, 2k
eldar half 3/4 painted, 5k

necromunda:
1 gang to paint

gothic eldar fleet

heres an idea, lets have a christmas holiday challenge

pick an army and paint it between chrimbo and new year!

e.g. i want to get my epic IG up and running and around here we play 3000pt games. so i pick a 3000pt list from my unpainted models and try and get it to a playable/decent standard in the holidays.

lets see what every one achieves :)

erm actually second thourghts

lets do 2000 pts, i know i'll be hungover on boxing day morning and i'll be drinking boxing day afternoon and night, so i will be rough as a dog possibly even a badger on the day after boxing day

edit:
actually thinking about maybe dropping down to 1000pts would be better infact sod i'm aiming for one unit!

cos lets face it not only is there drink to be drank, turkey to be eaten, and pressents to play with (even if they are only socks you have still got to be seen using them  :;): ) but who will find the time to do such a thing?

It's a good idea...ummm - might try, I won't finish all models for that army, but I'll try to get a working army in shape at any rate. And I choose (fate flailing blindly at thousands of troops and tanks and beasties stored in boxes) ......

.....suspense......

Epic Eldar!

Ok, fate isn't THAT blind - I've got a few painted already, and it seems to be a Christmassy army (I was painting this stuff this time last year), and I've got that ebay lot I'm still happy with, and there's the B-T rules out on the vault, so....

Well I feel like the odd one out here... my plan is to actually paint everything I own (and so far I'm going pretty well)!! I've just sold off my napoleonics... I figured I've got to limit things a bit, and just get more out of a few systems rather than playing everything. ?That leaves me with:

2 40k armies completely painted.
5 epic armies completely painted,
5 DBM armies completely painted,

1 epic army completely unpainted.

There are various bits which could be added to the painted armies, but not that much. I just add little bits and paint them as I go these days. Tomorrow I am swapping a few old fantasy ork models for some old epic IG. ?My unpainted epic army is Chaos and I'm going to wait for the new EA list before I even start it!

Well- heres my count~

40k; Almost all of a small Ultramarine army, 2000pts of Eldar and a couple of squads from my Death Guard painted!

Unpainted; Loads of the Death Guard including a Land Raider... a few marine bikes, loads of random marine stuff, a squad of Guardians, loads of old plastic Orks, tons of other random metal and plastic stuff that is kicking around in my bitz boxes.

WHFB; painted?! ...about 3 Bretonnian Knights  oh, and a couple of Mordheim and WH roleplay figures...

Unpainted; The contents of the 6th Ed set, a few Undead figs, some Chaos stuff, demons, a ton of other random figures in the bitz boxes...

BFG- I have an appoximately 5000pt Imperial fleet fully painted- I'm so proud. :;):
I have a Blackstone and a couple of thousand points worth of Chaos ships to strip and repaint too....

Epic; hmm... several nice bits of scenery are done, and small portions of both my IG and Eldar armies are done too, along with a load of Marines and titans- two large boxes are packed with stuff still in bags or just undercoated though.... :D

Necromunda; I have several bits of scenery done, and most of my Goliath gang painted, but lots of other gangers and hired guns to paint, as well as more scenery to build!

I have a couple of copies of Space Crusade, Heroquest, Advanced SC and a few of GW's other old games which have a load of figures, some of whch I have actually managed to paint!

I'll attempt to join in the challenge- but I'll aim low- maybe a couple of companies of my IG would be a realistic target!
