Hi!

I wholeheartedly agree with Maksim, it NO surprise to me. You cannot work for GW and accept a lot of their policies at face value for a long time without really questioning if they deserve your loyalty.

I for one am happy he has "moved on" there are bigger and better things for a man of his talents and drive.

My respect for him has increase an order of magnitud with his decision. Kudos!  :)

Who knows, we might see something _really_ interesting come off his future plans, whatever they are.

Apparently everyone in GW has been getting only .5% pay risees for a while now due to a shrinking bottom line.

This contradicts the shareholders reports, but then in my experience what the workers and the shareholders are told rarely matches up....

True, but the news about 'the big C' only officially hit this morning.

Dear Tom,

I can confirm that Games Workshop and Andy Chambers have decided to part company. For reasons I'm sure you can appreciate, we never discuss employee's personal details or situations, so I can't provide any more information than this.

Best regards,

Jervis Johnson
Head Fanatic

Straight from the horses mouth, it is uncertain as to whether or not there will be an official announcement as Jervis is not part of the main studio and so was not directly involved with this.

Hi!

I doubt AC's departure will affect stock prices. Remember investors care about the bottom line, not some no name employee they may not even have the faintest idea who he is.

Only gamers will have angst over this, not investors.

Still, Jimbo's link should no growth or very little over this quarter. That is what the investor will be interested in....

From the Players Society:

Hello,

Well I have had it confirmed to me from so many sources now, that I have to believe its true.

Andy Chambers has indeed been sacked from GW. The reason given being he was unable to meet deadlines for the new 40K system.

Also 3 top sculptors have also left GW, 1 leaving after GW tried to interfer with her personnel life.

Now, of course these are all second hand information so these may not be true, but what the h*ll do GW think they are playing at with Andy Chambers?

Ok, when a project does not run on time, its usual to remove the head guy, but I for one, know that andy would not be sitting around and doing jack all, and would be working as flat out as he could be to get the game right, and this is where I believe GW have fallen foul, they want a game out no matter what, where I am guesing that Andy wanted to make sure it was a gamers game without the usual GW flaws. GW could have put him on another project, relegated him to playtesting under a new manager but to sack him? Idiots.

Go into any GW store and have a look at every product. Every product somewhere has andy chambers in it. His skaven article for the 3rd edition sparked many new Skaven armies, he is one of the old game masters from which GW have developed. Loosing him is like loosing your right arm (assuming your right armed)

The sculptor one is a bit more intresting, but any company that tries to alter somones private life and goings on in that life should be reprimanded.

Thus it would seem one of the greatest ever game designers has left, with sculptors running after him, if GW can ever recover from this and become better, they would need a miracle.

I sadly believe that GW will be heading downhill from now on.

Bugman

And Gav Thorpes response.

Andy C and GW have parted company. Anything else you may hear/ read about/ dream is pure speculation.

Gav Thorpe has never done much for me. I once bought a WD that had some grafitti in it including a caption under Gav's photo that read "poof." I don't know about that but I greatly prefer Andy Chambers to Gav Thorpe.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

It would be irrelevant if it was true - it is how good a designer he is that really counts...

Sure, Tom...

I agree, but I still much prefer Andy to Gav. I suppose that I'm upset over Gav's typical "company" comments. It would be better to stay mum.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

The deadline bit doesn't sound right.

Admittedly, I've been out of it for a while, but last I heard the only thing that had been announced was that the new 40K version was "on the way" but not even an expected release date had been announced.  I have a hard time believing that missing deadlines in the early stages would be grounds for firing all by itself.

Basically, I don't think that's anywhere close to the whole story.
