I spent a LONG TIME working on my Deceiver model and it looked absolutely perfect.  The face was modeled in a level of detail I have yet to achieve since then.  The nose, the eyes, the weird things that come off his head.

I was gluing the Deceiver onto his 'robes' that were attached to the base and couldn't get it to hold so I used an accelerant, hoping to have it attach quickly.  I squeezed out too much glue and it ran 'up' the model, defying gravity, dried quickly, and formed a perfect little ball around his head.

I was so mad I almost crushed the model. :_(

I nearly opened pot of GW codex grey upside down until luckily my friend pointed it out in time. Oh, also trying to shake a tomato sauce bottle that was open. ( not modelling related still fail . . . )

Oh I can laugh about it now too, but at the time I was livid.  I tried about a dozen times after that and every subsequent attempt to get the face right ended up making the model look more like C'tan the Brazilian Lemur.

Not an Epic fail, but a fail nonetheless, I was mixing some highlights for my Tales of War Leonidas contest-entry model (theme: I am Ironman!), and was having issues with the Brass Balls and Radiant Platinum mixing properly, so I added a little bit of Future.  Big mistake, the future made the highlights fill in the wonderfully-shadowed dents and scars on the armor...

First major hobby disaster: going back a good few years to when I was still living with parents - They'd just been away on holiday and spent a thousand pounds on a Persian rug. I went to the shop and bought paint stripper, brushes etc, and put the bag on the rug. Two things I didn't realise; the paint stripper was not properly sealed - and the bag had ventilation holes for safety...

Second major disaster: when I was managing a GW store, we ran a painting masterclass through the school holidays; five weeks of working on one figure each. On the final week, I gathered everyone's finished figures together, and all the kiddies watched proudly as I shook up the spray varnish. It wasn't until I'd made two passes over the figures I realised it was actually Skull White undercoat... :sigh:

Regards,
Reaver

Wow dude!

That's just one of the times you have to start laughing and tell the world how sorry you are by buying beer, donuts, coffee for everyone and take a picture and hang it on the wall to remind everybody to look at the spray can before spraying!  :;):

(or perhaps a sign saying "Spraycan Lid-swappers will be shot on sight")

I am a repeat offender hobby uncoordinated clutz at times.

My epic nids have been completely redone after I dropped the entire army which I had in a tray when the front light that went on automatically as you drive the car up turned off when I was half way to the door.

The cat got in my hobby room and my Epic space wolves are still waiting the repair and repainting work.

The cat got in my hobby room (again) and my 40 K elysians are still waiting a repair job.

My Epic Guard have been reassembled after being knocked off a bench.

My 40K guard have been reassembled and repainted after my open mini case fell off a table at a tournament.

Apart from that I have had some nasty cuts with a scalpel, dropped a scalpel into my upper leg and sliced my finger up badly with a jewelers saw (in bed - which got me banned from converting in bed).

Despite all of this evidence that accidents do happen and minis are fragile.  In my recent house move half my armies got moved in open trays, relying on slow driving and luck to get them to our new house as I didn't have time to pack them all properly.

I tried washing the paint off before it dried but it didn't work - so I ended up repainting all the figures myself, and let the kids pick some free bits out of the shop's bitz box.

And then I spent the next couple of years trying to live it down...

Regards,
Reaver

Your woman put up with metal sawdust in the bed, but got all torqued up when you cut yourself?  That's just nuts.

Pretty kinky.  :vD

Oh, I forgot, once, after we moved into our house, the cat slept in an open box with miniatures....

....that meant glueing a lot....
