Well, when you upload them to photobucket, are you given a choice of resizing the image?

Yeah, sure. I was advised at the time to use the 800x600 for the forum at the time (pre-move) but I have tried all the other types since and all images still seem to be small. Approx 3" x 2" physical size on the screen.

Does that make sense? Any ideas?

Try a larger image size when you upload next time. Maybe 1280x1024 or larger. See if you get the desired effect then.

I am a bit list on where we are on this. Can you give me a link to your photobucket source picture page?

I do get two differently sized piccies. I can't tell if they are the measurements you provided but I'm on a 1600x1024 screen so it sounds about right to me. If I scale my browser window the images rescale as well. Not sure what can be done except crop the images if you want to show close ups of details.

Hi Warmaster Nice,

So, you see two different sized images while I don't... that's just weird! It sounds more to do with me then, somehow. I'm confused...

I've sent a PM to Cyber Shadow with my Photobucket link (I hope) so maybe with his superior knowledge he can figure just what I've been doing wrong. (again I hope)

Don't forget Reaver has been having some sort of problem with images being resized too. This may be of help to him too.

Well like I said in another post, those pictures you just posted will shrink and grow dependent on your browser window size up until their actual size. If I right click on them and click on view image (a Firefox thing) I can see them at their actual size.

This is surely due to the attribute "max-width:70%" of the class ".hotlinked_image" from the css.

I'm currently at a 2048*1200 resolution and I see the size difference between your images. I appreciate the way images are actually shown, it prevents from having to scroll all around a 3550*4890 resolution picture. On the old version of the forum, this was possible and the look of the page was broken...

If members want to show a close up, just cut the extra part around the mini before uploading it (it's really simple with irfanview) and in the case of a very big picture, it's possible with Firefox to right-click on the automatically resized picture and middle-click "view image" from the contextual menu (it will open the full size image in a new tab).

Hi Warhead,
With your second guard shot I can see the proper resolution and when I save the image and open in PS it is the correct - 1024x768px resolution.

Great!

So what does it all mean and what do I need to do?.. Ok, scratch that first bit, I don't need to know what it means for now.
What do I do to fix it. I'm glad it works ok for others but would prefer it also worked for me too. I've been missing out on all the cool pictures here.

Please remember the new guy (me) is distinctly primordial when it comes to the understanding of the computer age. I do however really appreciate you all taking the time to help.

Screen resolution is set at 800x600 I have tried increasing to 1024x768 but this doesn't work. And no, I'm not buying a new home computer.

those pictures you just posted will shrink and grow dependent on your browser window size up until their actual size

Bu-wah? Ok, lets for a moment pretend I know what this sentence means. Is the browser window something I can adjust? If so how?

This is surely due to the attribute "max-width:70%" of the class ".hotlinked_image" from the css.
Yay! That's good, right?.. No?..  :oo: *Sounds of head striking keyboard repeatedly*

Sorry if I'm being unhelpfully flippant with your advice. It's not my intention, just embarrassed I can't figure this out myself.

OK. Let me try this. Two images, both 1024x768. One linked, one attached to the post.

On my machine, both pictures appear the same size, both are smaller than the original to fit the page. The attached one can be double clicked to bring up a full size image in a new window. This works in both IE and FF.

So, I would recommend that people attach images directly to posts, as it allows members to double click to see the detail.

You do not need to care about this, it was some information intended to CyberShadow ;)

@Cybershadow: attached or linked immages will be displayed the same, html styles related to those images are the same:

.attached_image {

 padding: 5px;

 margin: 10px 20px 10px 20px;

 border: dashed #339966;

 border-width: 1px;

 max-width: 70%;

}

.hotlinked_image {

 padding: 5px;

 margin: 10px 20px 10px 20px;

 border: dashed #339966;

 border-width: 1px;

 max-width: 70%;

}

With the same style, they will be displayed the same way ;)

PS: sorry CS, you replied before I finished writing my post  :oops:
