Its going to kill Epic I reckon, just because the core system is used all over the place :(

Regardless of what G/W does to/with Epic, we'll talk, trade, etc. about Epic, DRM, E/W, etc. here ...

Heh, it seems that ghost ship of GW/SG Epic is starting to sink even faster.

pixelgeeg: I agree with you!

But actually I have not bought anything from SG/GW after the release of chaos infantry (was it year ago?) for the easy reason of: They have not made anything to buy! And these kicks in Epic teeths all the time!

I have not made any big decision of getting away from epic, but basically I have. I have made lots of Epic Nurgle but because their armylist is so bad I have not even thought of playing with those. And all the playing I have done in last half year (?) have been Warmachine.

PG, even though I'm not going to stop playing Epic any time soon, I do agree with you wholeheartedly; GW doesn't deserve our support. I've been letting my wallet do the talking for a long time. I've received some as gifts and bought some off ebay, but I haven't purchased a new mini from GW since I bought the E40k boxed set.

I can totally understand where PG is coming from but I just don't see myself giving up on Epic.  I still love the mini's, I love the background, I love the ruleset.  Combine that with the fact that GW reached out to us to get a tournament gong in Baltimore and I think they deserve something.  Clearly not the exclusive loyalty that they would want, but I certainly am not ready to write off the game.

With that said, the newer 6mm games certainly look fun and I think there is room for all of them to be played and enjoyed.

I can't see Sci Fi Commander killing epic as a tournament game. IMO BKC/CWC play best in scenario based games which are hard to balance.

I love the ruleset as well but any 6mm sci-fi gaming (outside of Battletech) that goes on around here is organized by me. If I am going to pull new gamers into the hobby then I will want to move them to companies that want to support those gamers.

As I mentioned I am basing my CH figures and look forward to using them against my Eldar force.

But new gamers I get into the genre are going to be pushed towards CH, DRM etc and not GW and Sci-fi Commander is a ruleset that lets me do that.

I'm porting the GT scenario to be used with Sci-fi Commander and the game. We're going to be doing our next test game with it.

Hey Rug... I get the feeling you were referring to me...
What can I say? Since Phantom persuaded me to take a look at the Epic rules again (I hadn't played it since Epic 40k), I've been addicted! Personally I think the rules work well - maybe not perfect, but hey, cope! I'd like to see a system come out that not only has the good game play, FANTASTIC players, and incredible background that I associate with GW and the 40k universe.
On another note, I'm getting a bit tired of this whole "GW has abandoned Epic and SG wah wah wah...". Come on, you can't really believe that?? If GW had "abandoned" Epic/SG there would be NO models in stores, NO models available online, NO rulebooks available in stores, NO epic terrain sets... and so on... this is not the case! GW provides all these things (at HQ if nothing else) and lets face it, how many people actually play Epic - compared to 40k or fantasy, its not a large ammount... so there's going to be proportionally less support...
Sorry... rant over! lol!

oh, and Rug... it's all Groovy...
