Hi James,
Quote (wargame_insomniac @ 29 Jan. 2006 (18:04)) | A bit off-topic for this thread so I'll keep it brief. I know you like the smaller scale for doing Star Wars but with the number of models now released by WoTC for Star Wars minis maybe you should scale up. Now they have done an AT-AT, and that is a chunky piece of resin/plastic (18" wide x 14" high x 7" deep ), I think I will stick to that scale. |
One word: EXPENSIVE!
The AT-AT costs about $50.oo USD or roughly 25.00 GBP!
For the cost of less than just one of those 28mm / 30mm AT-ATs, I've put together a 10mm set with several dozen AT-ATs, AT-STs, AT-PTs, Snowspeeders, defence towers, troops, terrain bases, etc.
There's the storage issue too. Just one of those 28mm AT-AT's takes up nearly as much storage space as my entire "Battle of Hoth" collection.
Quote (wargame_insomniac @ 29 Jan. 2006 (18:04)) | Plus you have Luke on Tauntaun, Stormtrooper on Dewback, Tusken Raider on Bantha, Stormtroopers, Rebel Speeders and AT-ST's from the original trilogy. And Darth Maul on Speeder, Hailfire Droids and AT-RT's from the newer trilogy. |
The range on the collectible miniatures game is very good, but you're stuck with random blisters or extremely high trade-in or E-bay prices. Most of the figures you mention above go for $15.00 to $65.00 USD or equivalent Britsh Pounds prices! And if you try buying random blisters, it may cost even more.
Quote (wargame_insomniac @ 29 Jan. 2006 (18:04)) | Next release is called "Attack on Endor" and will feature AT-ST in jungle camo. |
The Endor pack is really neat, but I don't want to invest hundreds of Dollars in a random collectible game.
I'm glad you like it though and I hope you enjoy it very much!
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.
