Well I'm glad to hear there are some highlights in an otherwise cruddy situation.

May I recommend you send some flowers and a card to Diana?

Just a "thinking of you" thing, which she doesn't have to respond to (she will be feeling pressured) but will win you lots of brownie points in addition to letting her know you really care. Chicks dig that sorta stuff. I always send flowers home when I am away on deployment. ?

Then again, Sailors are more romantic than meathead grunts... eh L-4? :D

Anyway Maksim, good luck on home Front and with your three great resolutions. I'm looking forward to seeing the kaiju battleground city though you've seen my combination of Lego and Epic cardboard buildings works well for me... and is hard for the kids to wreck permanently.

Best wishes,
Tas. :)

But chicks do dig that "swoony," mushy, stuff!

Stop... I'm get'n all misty-eyed! ?:;):

There's always a bright side. It's just that you often have to labor to find it.

I'm writing daily letters right now and am planning to send a gift and cards around Valentine's Day.

Great idea. Thanks.

I don't know about us former "flyboys" / "medics" then.

It's going to be good. I was just working on some building flats earlier today.

Luckily, I don't have kids so I don't have to worry too much about my cities constantly being under threat of "kidly destruction!"

Sorry to hear about your problems, Maksim. I really hope that the current issues are only temporary, and that life gets back on track soon. I guess that when your other half says that she needs a bit of time, all that you can do is to respect her wishes and hope that she comes through it and sees sense. I wish you the best in that regard.

Hang in there, things will pick up again soon, I am sure of it.

Hi Iain,

Thanks for writing, Iain. I really appreciate it.

I try not to think of them as problems... only temporary setbacks.

I'm hoping for the same, but I've never seen her like she's been. I wouldn't put this "turbulence period" beyond being the end.

The thing is that she didn't tell me needed more time... in words and if there were hints, I sure didn't get them. I may be an expert in linguistics and fluent in half a dozen languages, but I have no idea what women are trying to communicate sometimes.

It's because of things like the secret communciation codes of women that I try to be so open with my own communication, always trying to say what I mean and not assume that the other party knows what I'm thinking.

It's not about language proficiencies M/S, we don't have enough X chromosomes to decode the transmissions! ?:D

Mmm, women are tricky things, I find it best not to overthink things and just stick with simple signs of affection like flowers etc. Let them do the thinking (...and the chasing but that is another topic)! :;):

My own GF says she hates getting flowers cos it seems like a waste of money. She actually does like it though. Typical.

Hope things look up for you soon, Maksim.

Well Maksim... I know us Grunt types think we're "the real deal," the top block, etc.!!!!

As far as women go... ???

I'm completely confused, they are a conundrum, an enigma, a mass of illogical and conflicting emotions...

Since over a year ago I decided to "get involved" with them again, I've been in and out of upset and dispair!!!

At 49 years old I'm too old for all this @#$%^&*! :;):

You got that right... tricky things.

Mine likes flowers, but just giving them is not enough. they have to include a card and be given at exactly the right time. Given at the wrong time, flowers are wrong as far as I can tell. At any rate, flowers are a hit or miss action with Diana... most of the time they work out alright... especially if they comes with chocolates as a gift.

Knowing my luck, I'll get it wrong either way.

Mine is exactly the same.

Me too! :;):

At any rate, as long as you have a plan, things never get too bad because you have some idea of what to do and where to go.

I still have some new job prospects and I'm definitely moving to a new apartment in late February to early March. The roommate and I have already scouted the place out and it's a huge improvement over my current apartment for the same amount of rent. It also has a large living room, which will make it possible for me to hoste games, which I can't wait to do. My current place is too small to hoste games. We've played baord games on the kitchen table before, but a miniatures game has always been out of the question.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I still have no idea where I fit in the "military" as far as what I've done. I've hauled a rifle, a med kit, a translator's handbook and a few other things. I'm a REMF that has been at the rough edge so who knows?

Amen, brother. Or as they say in Ashkenazi Hebrew and Yinglish: Omayn!

I feel about the same.

That was one of the things I originally liked about Diana... she had much less of the "female mystery" going on than most women I've known. After she got over my directness and intentional attempts to be obvious, we've got on quite well for some time. I've been happy.

And all of a sudden, something upsets the balance and I have no idea what hit me.

I like Diana. I don't want to date again. She's enough for me and I'm happy with her.

Dating is pain. And expensive...

And it's tough to find a women who can tolerate the gaming habit and even play a board game or two every now and then.

She even has a hobby of her own and nice parents.

I prefer someone with a hobby. Hobbies reveal character and demonstrate that the person with the hobby can entertain themselves without TV... a huge plus in my book. I hate having the boob tube running twenty-four hours a day sucking out irreplaceable brain cells.

You only have a few years on me, Ralph, and I feel the same way! :/
