Thanks for the pics Maksim, some cool models there!

I got some of those Alternative Armies figures a few years ago, they are kinda big arent they?

They would fit in quite nicely for 10mm! ;)

Believe it or not, I have painted some Irregular figs! :;):

A lot of the High Elves, and some of those 6mm Stormtrooper stand-in sci-fi figs, which actually I did quite like. The historicals unfortunately I did get stuck on the look...and got Heroics & Ross instead...

I'd agree with your sentiments on the terrain, I actually really like their 2mm terrain too, very effective once painted up! :)

I also chop up Irregular bases to fit them onto my desired miniature base sizes.

*** Ah, but do you cut up the 5-man strips so that you can fit 14 guys on a 40mmx20mm base? ***

Infantry ain't too bad, but the cavalry were a bit of a pain! :;):

Randomly jumping into the other conversation, my enthusiasm for Epic has waned some, I used to play a game a week, mainly so I could try out the funky new army lists, but the impetus on that has kinda gone, and the quiet convinced me to play around with my own rules (not for 6mm though Maksim, don't worry :) ).

I still consider Epic one of my favourite games, I just don't quite have the enthusiasm to play it often. And the fact I still haven't really convinced any of my opponents to invest in an army of their own hasn't helped!

I am not giving up on it however. I will still get in maybe a game every month, and I enjoy painting the figures enough to still do that, so I'll stick with it.

I won't contribute to development anymore, as I just can't playtest stuff, but there are plenty of other things for me to natter about! :D

(Yes, I'll probably play around with Harlequins if the opportunity arises, but thats only 'cause I really like them, and my inablity to sufficiently playtest things wont matter as I really don't see many people ever playing it).

*** One thing I noticed in your posts Maksim was the idea about becoming a '6mm consultant,' could you elaborate on that, I'm intrigued? What did you have in mind? ***

*** I know you're aware of SCN (Starship Combat News), was it something like that you had in mind? ***

Not that I'm hinting as a big fan of SCN! :)

Although essentially your Yahoo E-groups fulfil that role to a fair extent.

As a carry-over from the other thread, the SJG OGRE minis in Warehouse 23 are = G/W and F/W quality-wise IMO...

And DRM sets a new standard from what I've seen so far.

And I think GZG is very good also... :;):

You're welcome. I'm sort of surprised that I haven't seen more posts regarding the miniatures gallery I put up. Usually a cavalcade of comments appears after a gallery posting.

There are only slightly over 6mm... around 7mm or 8mm... too small for 10mm.

And oddly enough the AA figures fit right in with Ogryns, later Epic SM sculpts and every other 6mm Epic figure which experienced "scale creep," which is most of them.

I beleive you.

*** Are you using Irregular 6mm NSF codes for your Stormtrooper stand-ins? ***

The fantasy figures have the same big bulky look as manyof the Irregular Ancients figures.

No worries, mate! :)

Irregular has some really fabulopus terrain buildings and their prices are very good compared to most terrain manufacturers.

They also have the largest slections of pre-industrial terrain around.

Sometimes, the figures are grouped and it's hard to find a good point to separate the stand, but it is POSSIBLE! :D

I certainly understand about this.

It was very sad for me to see E-A die out in my area. And it was a long lingering death too.

I'm not worried about you playing with rules and encourage you to do so.

Thanks for keeping my set in mind. I need to spend some time on it.

I've been spending a lot of time every day looking for a new job. I'm really tired of my part-time ones.

I understand.

You have the same problem I do... no more opponents.

The high pruices discourage new gamers from joining too.

I'm also not giving up and I'm not selling my "lead" either!

I still have too many Epic armies to finish!

I won't be able to contribute as a playtester anymore, but I'll add my two cents in when possible.

I'm most interested in the 'Nid and Necron lists although the Orkimedes Big Gargant Mob also interests me.

I wish they'd bring back the Ork Bomma.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Well it's really not "6mm consultant", but the idea of forming a site to showcase photos of every miniature made sort of like a "6mm Consumer Affairs" site.

"Consumer Affairs" is a magazine / media group that reviews cosnumer products and both compares and rates them against each other.

I'd like that for 6mm sci-fi, a site that provides measurements, generous amounts of photos and all the figure information that we're always looking for.

I know the woner of SCN and we're on very good terms. I'd like to see a site for 6mm miniatures that is comparable.

Quote (Reaversbane @ 12 Jan. 2006 (09:31))

They do, but the photographic support is negligible and I want something better. The E-groups are superlative for encouraging discussion, but they don't to much to showcase figures.

That's sort of a long-range goal. I'd like to learn more about web site construction before doing that. I've experimented with free sites and now have a blog and a photo gallery, but I want more of a site. I have plenty of photo donors and what not for when the project comes underway.

Right now, I'm concentrating my efforts on Planetfall and Traveller.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi!
Agreed. We are definitely in another Epic "dark age." Many players have jumped ship due to lack of support or enthusiasm from Fanatic / Specialist Games. Sad, but inevitable.
How long this new draught will last is anybody's guess. It stinks to sometimes carry the torch when it is darkest.
But if not us... who?
I "stick with it" out of pure grit or perhaps sheer stubborness.
Either way this forum and its members are the light of Epic in the ever encroaching darkness.
I look forward to the next age of enlightenment! :;):
Primarch.

I've said it before and I say it again: we don't need GW for Epic to survive. As long as we maintain our interest, Epic will never die. :8): ?

I can be a torch bearer, if necessary.

Hi Zak,

Quote (zak @ 12 Jan. 2006 (18:28))
I see the Dalek is in the "Sci-fi Posh Pack" from Irregular miniatures.
It doesn't look that great a moulding. The ones I had were a bit better, though I don't know where they are now (...probably been melted down for something else!).

Hi Zak, the "Dalek" can be ordered separately of the "Posh Pack." It's called "attack robot" or something like that. There are several variations on the Irregular "Dalek."

It's also an older mould so some casts from earlier times are notably better than later ones.

Quote (zak @ 12 Jan. 2006 (18:28))
I'm tempted to get some more for a "Mk 2 Chaos Android battalion."

I don't think I'd use the Irregular "Daleks" in that manner, but I am planning to use some of Doug's new Dark Realms Andreyada for Necrons / Mechanons / Mechanoids.

I don't know what I'd use "Daleks" for in Epic terms.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Maksim, I have to agree with Jimbo; I'm not quite sure why you needed six identical posts for this one, but that aside, theres some lovely stuff in your album.

I liked the Ordinati, especially the Golgotha (nice big missile!), the starship troopers power armour figs, and the proxy comparisons are very interesting.

I couldnt get the Arabs-Jordanians album to open though.  ???

Looking forward to seeing some more stuff (especially painted minis!).

Cheers, ~G

Hi!

Great gallery Maksim. Most excellent for seeing those minis to which few photos are available online.

Those Ordinati are fun to play with.

I have a ton of painted SST bugs to post as well.

I like proxies alot. I'm hoping we can get Primarch to make a gallery of his own as well.

Hmmm.... I wonder why. I've tried from several different PCs and haven't seen any glitches yet. I would recommend trying again later.

I think the next minis I plan to move into the gallery will be Space Marines.

I have a ton of painted Ultramarines, Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves, a few Silver Skulls, and some others to photograph.

I also have several thousand points of painted Eldar in three or four different schemes (...different craft worlds, pirates, etc.).

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
