I think for some of us, its the only option left.
Primarch | Sad, but true. I've done lots of solitaire play in the past, but not for epic, yet.

Quote (Cuban Commissar @ 22 Mar. 2006 (21:45)) | What games did you play and how was it? | Lots of Avalon Hill games, but I have played Space Hulk solo. For the most part it was okay, not as good as playing a live opponent, but I figured it was better than not playing at all. Some AH games are more suitable for solo play than others. I also bought some AH games which were designed as solitaire games only.
The hardest part I found about playing both sides is trying to forget what your strategy/plans are for the "enemy" when you were taking the turn for one side.

I've heard of using cards to determine actions for each side or the "enemy" side

as the ability to carry out actions require a dice roll, i'd think you can just do it for both sides without using cards

I have tried it a few times in the last couple of months. It is odd somehow to be setting up the table, both forces, and knowing on one is going to be at the table other then me.
Last game tried was Black Water Single.
I lost.
Of course I won too.

Gaunts Ghost is currently working on solo rules for Epic A. I will see if I can get him to post it when they are ready.

That looks like an interesting book. Donald Featherstone also wrote one (many years ago now) that had all sorts of optional card systems for army layout, randomis8ing factors during turns and the like.
I have come up with randomising systems for most games and have played nearly everything I own solitair at least once. The use of the kids to moce stuff as generally instructed can add quite a radomising factor as they never quite end up where you thought they would!
