I thought it was interesting to see the walking vehicle having played so many mecha games.

Interesting, though - but doesn't look like it works! :O

It walked out onto the stage from what I was told. I am still looking to see if I can find a vidclip of it.

You have seen the six-legged harvester prototype, have you?  :)

Unfortunately I got a "server error" when trying to look at your pic.  :(

The 6 -legged one seems to have more balance. Hm, Id like to see a video too. CS, you're the local expert - any thoughts?

:D

I cant quite see the walking vehicle ever being popular. Judging from the pictures it must be quite slow. AIt looks quite stable standing up, but you reach out and the thing looks like it topples over. Hexapod walkers are much more stable as they use a tripod gait, three legs moving while the other three anchor the thing upright. The shift in balance of these things is always the difficult thing to get right. I would guess that Toyota is a little worried by Hondas P3 robot (which is simply amazing).

I could try to dig out movie of the P3 if people are interested, and I have a movie of a really cool robot snake somewhere...

Spec Sheet says 1.8 km/hour.

Thanks Daf! The wheeled thing on the foregroud looks interesting.

And about the six-legged harvester; the idea is that it can cut trees on very steep slopes to which a wheeled vehicle can't go without tripping over. It is also supposed to do less damage to the forest floor than the traditional harvester with huge wheels.
