Since I'm getting no replies on the subject from the NetEpic group, I'm trying here as well, to close this research for the Hardware book.
I'm looking for conclusive info about eventual differences between E:40K and E:A imperial minis. In short, I'd like to know if the minis currently available are the same as those sold in the E:40K blisters or are new moulds.
"Conclusive info" means either you own both versions or you've seen them firsthand. Comparing the 1998 Annual with the bits version displayed in the US store, my feeling is that basically almost all the pieces are different, barring the fliers. I'd like to be sure, though. Also, do the new models come in fixed configurations or do they sport a modular design like the E:40K ones?
Here's a brief list of models in doubt:
IG:
Baneblade Basilisk Bombard Chimera Deathstrike Griffon Hellhound Hydra Leman Russ (normal, Demolisher, Vanquisher) Manticore Sentinel Shadowsword
SM:
Bike (normal and Attack) Dreadnought Land Speeder Razorback Whirlwinds
Thanks for any info.

Not entirely sure but here's my take:
IG:
Baneblade - same but plain variant Basilisk - enclosed cockpit variety Chimera - same but plain variant Hydra - I think the radar thing has gone. Leman Russ (normal, Demolisher, Vanquisher) Shadowsword - same but plain variant
SM:
Bike (normal and Attack) - I think these are the same Razorback - new, with automated weapons rather than SM gunner Whirlwinds - new (note that anything based on the rhino chassis has been changed to the new.

Most of the Imperial stuff is E40k with minor modifications. I only bought a squadron of Hellhounds and Chimeras so those are the only "first hand" models I can talk about. The E:A modles come in two pieces Hull and turret. The mmodles are based on the "version 1" (plain version) of the E40k modles ie. the ones with the least stowage added. Some areas (like the hellhound fuel tanks) have has a bit of green stuff added in some recesses to make them castable ad one piece moodels. This means that some detail is lost on a few models.
In conclusion the basic design is the same but the way they are cast is slightly different. Some modles hhave got new models; these are the ones I know of (and I'm 99% sure)
Baneblade -same Basilisk - New Bombard - same Chimera - same (100%) Deathstrike - same Griffon - same Hellhound - same (100%) Hydra - same Leman Russ (normal, Demolisher, Vanquisher) - same Manticore - Same Sentinel - new Shadowsword - same
SM:
Bike (normal and Attack) New bike based on the attack bike with only the hole for the side car filled in. Attack bike is the same model. Dreadnought - Same Land Speeder - New Razorback - New Whirlwinds - new
I hope this helps. Cheers!

Yep ! IIRC, You guys got it right ! Since I own most (98%) of all Epic models since SM1. I only ordered the new E:A stuff ! Even the SM C-pack has few of the E40K figs, unmodified. Some just a skull added, etc !

Quote (Legion 4 @ 14 2004 Dec.,07:39) | Even the SM C-pack has few of the E40K figs, unmodified. ?Some just a skull added, etc ! ? ? | That is GW's style. Take a mini, change the helmet, add a new marking of some sort, and sell it as a new character you just need to have.
