I do find XP Pro the most stable Windows I have used.
I did have had problems with wireless drivers, which when attempting to update a wireless router did end up with a BSOD. A driver update cured that problem.
Also some problems with Belkin PCI firewire/USB cards, but then I always have problemswith Belkin stuff.

Hmmm, I still prefer win2k to XP, I feel that Xp is just a dressed up version of win2k anyway. It might be just me, because I prefer to take care of my security, updates, etc etc without MicroSquash interference.

Hi!
Most problems on WinXP that I have encountered were generally fixed with an updated driver, not so with Win 2000 or Win 98.
Try Win XP iblisdrax, with NTFS file system and the updates I think it does very well.

Have you noticed the trend that they tend to be in the upper damagement?
Some more incidents in Windoze:
Can't find drive C
Could not load mouse drivers. Left click to acknowledge.
I haven't tried XP yet but at least in 2000 there are several "features" which suck.
1) The file system is slllooowwww. The more substs you do (and I have to have several) the slower it gets. Opening a directory can take a minute...
2) They STILL haven't figured out a functioning system to prioritise tasks.
3) At random intervals when I have to add text to an email, word or text document it decides to automatically turn on the overweriting.
And so on.
It hasn't crashed once but it's about time they got THAT right...
BTW, check the cartoon for 20th of Dec in here.

Then there was the VP at one of the companies I worked for who called IT support yelling because his computer turned off and lost what he was working on... The IT guys show up to his office. The first one touches the mouse and the screen comes back with everything right where he left it. It was his sceen saver had turned on.
| Intreresting. Once ago I had a friend whose mother was really scared that her PC had a virus... turned out that he simply changed the screensaver (DOS) to something like fireworks.
While Microsoft OS's are hardly ideal, I found Win XP to be really stable and I havent seen the BSOD since I migrated to it.

I will never, ever move above W98. I hate Win XP guts.
3) At random intervals when I have to add text to an email, word or text document it decides to automatically turn on the overweriting.
Seems to happen every once in a while.

Well, I already have NTFS with win2k, and both of my computers running win2k have no slowdowns, driver issues, or instability problems. So, currently, I have no reason to migrate to an OS that will probably give me nothing more than sucking up more system resources. And yes, Xp sucks more resources, unless you really really tweak it.
