Hi everyone!

A long time missing from the world of Epic. I picked up my first Epic piece after 4 YEARS, and really a six year break from regular play. How fast it has gone....

I sat across the table from RonSandt's son Conor, who is old enough to drive now. Very strange feeling.

Imperial Guard vs. Space Marines.

Space Marines took it on turn 3.

So now that I've beaten up a child as my coming out of retirement, I thought I would post here and see what is going on with the world of Epic. How badly has the pandemic damaged the community? Is anyone playing these days? If so, how goes it?

Lots of playing within those lucky enough to have their group close by and in their COVID PODs (seen via facebook) and LOTS of games seem to be happening with Epic Vassal and on Tabletop Simulator. Vanguard Miniatures and Trolls Under Bridges seem to be going from release to release in strength. Onslaught's still around though haven't seen much new stuff, they're still selling. The presence of AI19 and AT18 games from the new Specialist Games has brought a bunch of new blood or at least a very receptive audience around. Likewise it's eased the ability of people to get top quality kits for flyers (Orks, Tau, and Imperials so far) and Ad Mech walker forces. We've also gotten the 2 new types of Titans added to the world / game for the first time in 30 years so pretty exciting. Similarly, 3D printing has gone bonkers and I'm seeing lots armies getting rolled out one after another by folks (again, mainly on Facebook but of course not limited to there). It's a wild time to be around

Nice to see you around, mate!

Welcome back :) I think the community has diluted due to FB and Discord, but as jimmy says, there's still plenty going on. And some of us old timers are still lurking in the shadows.

I was thinking the other day - it would be good to include Raiders and Siege on https://miniwars.co.uk/epic-40k/rules/. Would you mind if I added them? The site sees a decent amount of traffic, so it might introduce a few more people to your work.

Hey Bill. Nothing much going on up in New England right now, we're all still staying home. We do paint on Google Meet every Tuesday night though, that's been fun.

As for Raiders you may use at your own discretion as long as you make no profit from it. Share openly. Although I can't speak for E&C, I would guess Ben (aka Evil & Chaos) would share the sentiment for Siege.

Good to have you back, how's the writing going?

Quiet over here for the past year, but slowly getting the painting bug back and looking to get gaming again when we get let out to socialise.

Good to hear from you again Mosc and that you got to play.

The community here is a lot quieter than in used to be, but a lot of people are using Facebook Whattsapp and/or Discord for Epic discussion instead these days. Epic is still going strong here in the UK - the regular UK Epic tournaments are paused at the moment but there were 10 around the UK in 2019 in the before times. We've got a few new people up for trying the game locally once restrictions lift. There’s an expanding range of Aeronautica and Adeptus Titanicus models that are a a third larger than the old models but close enough lots of us use them to play Epic too and there’s an ever increasing range of excellent 3d printable models and scenery (see GrimDarkTerrain for example) around these days too. Things are both good and bad but in some ways it’s a bit of golden age for Epic these days.

Hey Mosc, good to see you post again!

we had a world tournament a few months before covid started, got to meet a range of names from the forum from across the pond IRL.

I've drifted sideways into warmaster for the last couple of years. Vastly prefer the epic rules , but enjoy the GW WM sculpts …
