This is way important. The lack of good and smart marketing has killed many a good game. 
I know some people have issues with GW but many of the other game companies could do well to take a few leasons from them. If there is one thing I respect GW for it is a clear understanding of who they are marketing too, how to market to that audiance, and a willingness to spend a little to do it right.

Well, at least the newest issue of Fictional Reality has an article about UWZ and what I've heard from the Excelsior forums they plan to attend several conventions as well. As for other channels I can't comment; Excelsior is pretty small and I don't know about their advertising budget.
