No problem.
And if someone tells you that Attack Wing is better, don't believe them. Sure they use the same system, but with Attack Wing being done by Wizkids, as is their usual model for supporting games, they have already released half a dozen limited edition ships which can only be got by winning tournaments (or Ebay if you want to pay the prices). I would much rather play a game where I can physically buy all the ships and upgrade cards from a shop if I need to.

Hi!

The "collectable" aspect of some of these games is why I never play them.

Like you I want to acquire what I like, not have to cross my fingers and hope to get it.

Yeah, that sounds like madness. Why the hell would anyone get involved with such a game which seems to treat its players with such disdain. I hadn't heard of it but will definitely be keeping a wide berth of that one, cheers Matt!

As a Star Wars fan I think the minis would look great in a glass cabinet when not being used for gaming. Now I just need to convince my wife! :D

I'm hoping to give x-wing a try this week - if I do I'll let you know from a beginners point of view.

As for dread - personally I'd give it a miss. Only tried it once but left me cold. Very old fashioned and dated mechanics with igug structure. - frankly it made me wish I was playing necromunda instead. If you like the setting (and who doesn't!) use the minis with another rules set IMHO - necromunda would work easily. If you want a more challenging game look at infinity (or maybe neuroshima tactics.)

Cheers Blip, please do let me know how you get on, I'd be interested to know what you think of it as well, the more feedback the better!

Other than the minis which I do like, Dredd seems to be a no-go. X-Wing seems to the route I'll be taking once finances allow it.
