So there's been a lot of serious talk lately, how about a little fun?

What's the best/cheapest auction/deal you ever landed on miniatures?

I just landed this one for $26.80! Nothing was really show in the picture and the description was just a summary of parts with number concrete numbers, that's why I think I got it so cheap.  The lot had all the following, unpainted and unbased:

Eldar
49 MK I Guardians
3 MKII Guardians
2 Gunners
4 Grav Platforms
3 Vibro Cannons
12 Jetbikes
3 Vypers
5 Farseers
6 Wraithguard
3 Standard Bearers
5 Rangers
3 Harlequins
4 Dire Avengers
3 Fire Dragons
3 Howling Banshees
4 Striking Scorpions
3 Swooping Hawks
6 Exarchs

IG
148 Guardsmen
8 Heavy Weapon Guardsmen
36 Assault Guardsmen
10 Commissars
9 Officers
9 Gunners
16 Bikes
6 Robots
14 Rough Riders
5 Sentinels
7 Beastmen I
17 Beastmen II
6 Ogryns
18 Ratlings

Orks
200+ Boyz MK I (haven't counted yet  :p)
148 Boyz MK II
38 Heavy Weapon Boyz
18 Nobz
18 Stormboyz
19 Madboyz
8 Boarboyz
19 Wild Boyz
20 Warlords
7 Standard Bearers
20 Gretchen
1 Dreadnought
2 Buggies
8 Bikes

Marines
400+ MKI and MKII Marines (I haven't separated or counted these yet...)
35 Assault Marines
19 Devastators
7 Captains
17 Sergeants
8 Terminators
17 Bikes

All that for $26.80, plus I got a handy case and 9 Micro Armor Bradley/Warrior IFVs to boot.

What's your best auction ever?

I had a boxed set like that once for about 8 pounds.

It ended up having about 30 knights in it (Including some rare metals), 3 squat goliath mega cannons, loads of plastic Rhinos, and enough IG, Orks and marine infantry to build an army of each.

Dave, I didn't know that you're building an Eldar army.

Back on topic, I haven't had any spectacular deals like this, but I once won a Mk 1 Gargant for 5 bucks. The paintjob is crappy and the original owner didn't even file off the flash so there were big gaps between body parts, but it was still a good deal. Another decent win for me was 16 plastic Paladins, still on sprues, for about $15.

:p I wasn't going to mention them but I won 3 other cheap auctions back in April that had:

10 dark reapers
77 dire avengers
40 fire dragon
24 striking scorpions
20 swooping hawk
10 exarchs
8 heavy weapon guardian
55 rangers
20 dreadnoughts
54 jet bikes
10 vypers
3 warlocks
70 wraithguard
10 las-cannons
4 vibro cannons
4 crewman

Plus 8 painted stands of scorpions, 4 hawks.  Eldar armies are a long way off though for me.

That's NOTHING!!!

I once won an epic scale baneblade for 55 STERLING POUNDS :O  :O  :O

When i was putting my bid i tried to put 5.5, but as i didn't use , instead of . my bid was 55 sterling pounds. Fortunately the seller understood it and i only had to pay him 5 sterling pounds...

No, seriously, i would really like to get a warhound and some gargants from e-bay, as well as some codex-grey plastic 40k IGs, but their bids always go to dramatic heights :(

I thought this was a good deal, so I was happy, of course your milage may vary...

A skull topped chaos titan, fully painted, great condition, for $4.99. The photo really did not do this justice, so no one else bid. i had seen it offered once before as well.

Wow Dave,  nice haul. Don't suppose you want to unload some of the Aspect Warriors?

I have won a few auctions that I would say where really good, but the best one I think would have to be the the which consisted of the following items.

1 Knights Lancer Blister
1 Knights Errant Blister
2 Knights Baron Blisters
2 Ordinatus Golgatha (spelling) Blisters

For a total of $10.00 with $3.00 shipping. ?This guy had several auctions go up late one night and within about 10 minutes they were all gone. ?I bought this one and 2 others consisting of a lot of unopened imperial guard blisters.

My best auction was a big box of mixed stuff.

From memory it was something like:

2 Thunderhawks
9 Thunderbolts
3 Marauders
about 150 stands worth of various IG
A bunch of various plastic Marine and Ork vehicles
An Objective blister
a Colossus
about a company worth of Artillery
a couple of Daemon Engines
a few Stompers
2 Battlefortresses
Half a Gargant
Some Metal Titan Weapons
About 5 spures worth of Orks
a few Warmonger bitz
2 Ordinatus driving cabs + a couple of lose Ordinatus bitz
a few Battletech models
50ish Microarmour tanks + a couple of companies worth of infantry.

...and a lot of other wonderfull stuff. A true treasure chest of bitz really :D
All for about ?50 which I think was fairly cheap given that this was during the Epic Dry period :p

I blame this box for me starting my Chaos army as well as expanding my IG beyond a few supporting armor units.

Best thing I recall was a buy it now of about $45.00
It included a Plague Tower, Firelord, and Doomwings
It also had Man O War Dwarf Balloons, Bret. Pegasus Riders & Orc Wyvern Riders.  I sold the balloons and Pegasus riders and made double my money back.

Pretty close to that would be a buy it now box of nid infantry still shrink wrapped for $17.00

For me the best deal was when I found 2 boxes of epic in a charity shop.  ?30 for:

3 knights crusader
1 errant
10 plastic
150 old IG figures
10 Sentinels
6 engines of khorne
3 tzeentch fliers
20 chaos mutants
20 juggernauts
50 stands of marines plus about 30 rhinos
2 nice boxes for my bits

Turned into a veery lucrative buy with all the trading and sales on ebay, effectively tripled my outlay :D
