The word I use to describe those Land Raiders is fugly, and of all the whirlwind models, the Crayola pack is the worst. ?The newer ones are better, but not by much.
I don't really like most GW tracked vehicles. ?The tracks-go-around-the-hull design was abandoned in the mid-1930s. ?Give me a Rhino with a christie suspension and obscenely overpowered aircraft engine (or two), and I'll show you a real Marine-mover. ?The only GW tanks I like are the superheavies, since they actually could travel on something besides an airport tarmac.
Seeing as the tanks are fighting against blokes with chainsaws, I don't think they need to worry too much about the tracks going round the hull
For what it's worth I think the Epic 40k Land Raider looks best. Sticking the lascannon side by side, as the latest one does, makes little sense.
But, as I said myself, sense is not really the point when it comes to the 40k universe.
