Good grief - what a wonderful collection. I'm always sad to see something like this sold - there must be a good reason for doing this, I guess.
Stunning work. The largest wargaming army I've ever seen.

Space or death probably.

As the owner (not the e-salesman) says he's not splitting them up (see questions) I guess it must be space  :D
Do you know what they went for? I'd missed it but would probably have been too interested to be healthy (see. I'm glad I missed it   )

Good god, what a huge collection! It looks like it wasn't sold. I think the highest offer was $12,000.

He wanted 70,000 US($) for it, but the highest offer was 12,000 US($), which was rejected.

Apparently the threads on TMP were of the concensus that it wasn't worth more than 6,000.

Wargamers are tight so and so's aren't they?

It is also seller pride.  They spend months / YEARS working on an army and can't fathom seeing it broken up.  There was a guy on bartertown selling his Eldar collection for a scant $700 :O .  I added it up and the new models would have cost around $600.  Albeit there was some OOP stuff in there, but he just couldn't bring himself to sell it off piece by piece.  I think he would have made more money going that direction.  As it stands, I don't believe he ever moved it.

I simply can't bare to part with models unless they are gifts. I've tried selling stuff - hell i know I will never ever use the fantasy models I have (baring the human ones in the genestealer cult) and should sell them - thats almost a thousand models I have largely been given that I'm doing nothing with, but still this hording instinct kicks in.

I think if ever I had to sell my 6mm for my family I could do it in formation sized chunks, but I could see why you would want to do it as a whole - the thought of my precious armies being eaten up by a dozen different people is too horrible to contemplate! :)

I've had absolutely no problems selling my 40k DE on eBay.  But then again I've never really had much love for the fiddly little plastic $@#$%!@.  The Incubi were kinda hard as they were one of my first decent paint jobs, but I quickly got over it when they sold for $6 a piece.  The Space Marines might be tough to part with, especially the Land Raider.  I keep waffling on my Guard.  I want to get rid of them as I never intend to play 40k ever again, I don't like skulls on everything, yet I don't want to give them up.  So I keep saying to myself I'll finish painting them first (yeah right), or going back and forth between selling them as squads, or platoons, or the whole force.
