So i finally got the backstory for my nurgle warlord worked out, got the base sculpt, none other than St. Celestine, but I am now at an impass.  I have no skill in sculpting, other than on ships, and my grand plans for my Lady (is that proper? it's always said Lord and Lady?)  You guys have some mad skill, but what I am looking for is VERY complicated,  and since I just missed the bus to Seattle, I can elaborate!

So what I am looking for is a complete rework of the mini, the head needs to be almost zombified, part of the cheek missing, the head facing the opposite direction looking downwards, and the eyes decayed out leaving the empty sockets. (with a bit of nurgle left behind.)

Of course her Halo has to go, a Chaos star or Nurgle icon would fit nicely in it's place, and her cape/cloak/whatever should get pretty torn up and used looking.

Rather than two cherubs holding her aloft, I am thinking a swarm of warp flies, like the Destroyer hive, but a smidgen bigger.  Sculpting those would be the hardest, to have that many flies and look good, I have no idea.  Her flowery sword needs replacement, one of those lovely flat ended cleaver type things that Nurgle is so fond of would be nice, or a scythe if that doesn't work, and an antiquated and very reworked plasma pistol (mabye double barreled, or something) in the other hand (to replace the dove)

I want to avoid the standard nurgle bloated look, much more on the decayed skinny zombie like look, with the armor in a similar state, chipped, corroded, any imperial eagles replaced with a nurgle icon (or the fly icon from Typhus. The Fleur De Lis must stay, it's part of the design for the character, fluffwise at least.

Finally a few nurglings on the base, preferably based off the FW Great Unclean One, with the much more evil look, rahter than the cute puppy dog look if the current GW sculpts.

That's my idea in a nutshell, if anyone's interested, PM me or  reply here with ideas, estimates, or what have you not.  And finally for the people that would say "No Sister of Battle has ever fallen to Chaos! what are you thinking?!" Think not of her as a sister, but someone that has taken the armor of one as a trophy.

I really like this idea.  Exploring aspects of the gods not often seen.

To zombify her I suggest using WHFB zombie bits.  Such as replace her head with a suitable zombie head (possiblt drilling out its eyes), green stuff some hair onto it.

I'm no master but hait seems quite easy.  Just get a blob of it in the rough shape you want (pony tail, fallen looose etc) smopoth it onto the model then lightly score it with a very sharpo knife  top to bottom (I use a surgical scaple).

to decay her armour Lightly cut it with some clippers, so that it looks torn and decayed.

I'm not sure how you can model a swarm of flies in 28mm, but what about having some winged nurglings holding them aloft?

Finally, I would be tempted to keep the sword but chip the egde and paint it corroded, with the flowers all wilted.

Nice idea, I can almost picture it in my mind.
the head needs to be almost zombified, part of the cheek missing, the head facing the opposite direction looking downwards, and the eyes decayed out leaving the empty sockets. (with a bit of nurgle left behind.)

Three ways to approach it:
1. Cut off the current head very carefully using the razor saw. There might be some damage to it, and a lot more to the collar.
2. Grind away the whole head and sculpt a new one.
3. Use one of those Female Head bits produced by Hasslefree (bought two units of their Female Head Sprue B - great stuff!) and modify it.

There is a great tutorial on how to sculpt faces at http://groups.msn.com/sculptingminiatures

Of course her Halo has to go, a Chaos star or Nurgle icon would fit nicely in it's place, and her cape/cloak/whatever should get pretty torn up and used looking.
Chaos star/ Nurgle icon bits can be found in the newest Chaos Space Marine Squad boxed set. Ask some of your local Chaos players if they have any spares they could give or trade away.

The cloak is a little tricky, but you probably can carve out pieces with one of those small metal Dremel grinder bits and then resculpt those areas  with Green stuff so that they look holed/tattered/whatever

Rather than two cherubs holding her aloft, I am thinking a swarm of warp flies, like the Destroyer hive, but a smidgen bigger.  Sculpting those would be the hardest, to have that many flies and look good, I have no idea. Think in parts. A bulb of putty for the abdomen some wire pieces for legs, second blob of putty for the body (you'll have to sculpt the eyes and some insectoid features there), and two bits of thin plasticard for the wings (you could use pieces of foil card sleeves instead - instant transparent wings!).

Scythe sounds very fitting. You can get them in a few places:
1. WHFB Mounted Nurgle Lord
2. WHFB Empire Wizard kit (altough that one is a bit too Eldar-like)
3. Flagellant kit has another, already chipped.

An alternative would be taking the standard sword, chipping the blade a bit and grinding away the flowers (you'll need to sculpt something to replace them - perhaps some dessicated entrails hanging from there (just a few roughly shaped rolls of GS will do)

an antiquated and very reworked plasma pistol (mabye double barreled, or something) in the other hand (to replace the dove)
One of the weapons in the Canoness arms sprue is a left-handed plasma pistol with SoB insignia.

"No Sister of Battle has ever fallen to Chaos! what are you thinking?!"
But... they have fallen to Chaos - that's a fact! :p
Check Daemonifuge vol 1 if you don't believe me. It's also mentioned in the Grey Knights novel by Ben Counter.
Besides, there are quite a few Sisters of Slaanesh armies out there (makes me want to start a Sisters of Khorne one, LOL) and many Saint Celestine models used for Chaos lords more than that.

The only way I can think of to represent a swarm of flies is to use wisps of black cotton wool or similar material. ?Have these so that they appear to be streaming out of the vents in her backpack, rents and joints of her armour, eyes and mouth....urgh....might be tricky to pull off, but would look fantastic if you did.

Anyway, two of the cotton wool/fly streams should wind backwards to the corners of the cloak where the cherubs were, so appearing to hold it up.

Plan B is keep the cherubs, with a suitably pallid skintone, weeping sores, mangey wings etc.

As an alternative to the threadbare cloack, use human skin.  Stitch a few hides together for enough coverage if necessary.

When nurglifying her armour, remember rust and dirt. ?Rents and joints should be painted such that something...unpleasant is leaking from them.

Fine sand painted black, could be used on the base/lower armour to repesent swarms of wingless insects pouring out from her armour towards whichever fool has approached her.

Would be nice to keep the flowers, if only for a suitably diseased and pest-ridden look. Nurgle's mockery of the true Living Saint.

After that...I need a lie down....
