count me in for that game! :spin

Hi!

I like to think bigger. ;)

Closest to with 500-1000 gets a 500 dollar certificate to the miniature vendor of their choice. :)

But that is still "at least" 3-5 years off, so I have to account for inflation. :P

Are you counting just the cost of miniatures or the cost of painting as well?

And as someone who is painting one of these monstrosities, i didn't give a time frame and stuff keeps arriving. Hard to get it all in with school work and kids but i'm doing my best.

Hi!

The whole thing. Model costs, painting costs, shipping costs. EVERYTHING!

You did the right things by the way, best give no time frame. Its just not possible given the size.

By the way, your not allowed to have guess, you have inside information, LOL! ;)

Hi!

Nope. I'm being purposefully secretive and stingy with showing any of it. ;)

They will only be revealed as each one is finalized. :P

Patience is a virtue (for you all since I get to see them everyday). ;D

As you have dropped the must be usa bit have you thought of hitting up angel barracks or perfect 6- both used to do commission work, but seemed more focused on their own ranges now, but they may still be painting on the sidelines. There is also kev1964 (I think that's right) who does jaw dropping work. All 3 have done a lot of 6mm stuff, granted historics.

I'm in the UK for a few more nights, tying up loose ends, but when I'm back, id be happy to get you in touch with them for a small finders fee! (don't worry, I except heartfelt thanks and handshakes! ;) )

Well the answer to the conundrum posed by Primarch is simple; if you assume a total cost of $1 - $5 per base, you just have to estimate how many thousands, hundreds of thousands, or even millions of bases that he has . . .

Personally I suspect the "low ball" is more like $224 based on the premise that he must have collected all 10 companies of each of the 12 main Marine legions ($2 each or $24k), and then there is the rest of the other 10+ 'races' each of which have up to 10 sub-lists at another $2k per list. . .
Though I could well have underestimated the number of lists, sub-lists or bases per sub-list :D

Hi!

Not a bad way of analyzing it. ;)

The scary / nice thing about this is the size of the investment that this obviously entails.

In the National Army Museum, London and the Royal Armouries museum, Leeds (both UK) there are two models of the battle of Waterloo made by William Siborne. The 'main model' was built over eight years at a cost of £3000, while the 'New model' is slightly smaller, and presumably cost slightly less. Ignoring the quality of the painting (which would probably fall below Primarch's standards) if we assume that the cost of the two models was £5000, this would represent at least £220,000 in today's money, or ~$308,000.

So, the other question is whether Primarch will charge admission to see his collection once it is painted, and also to which museum he proposes to sell this collection for viewing by the wider public :D
