Anyone know of a good stand-in for the Ordinati? I was thinking of using a Voran from DRM's Andrayadas line... But I'm not sure if it's too big/not big enough. Anyone know of a good unit to use as a stand-in for these? I've also been considering taking a Baneblade/Shadowsword and converting it. Don't suppose someone could post a picture with a Baneblade beside an Ordinatus so I can see the size-difference could they?

Look through some of the Mechwarrior stuff. Painted right, some of them could be a good stand in.

Conversions based on Landraiders, IG superheavies etc could work well, especialy if you use two vehicles linked together (eg a Rhino and a superheavy).
The weapon would only be limited by imagination.
As for size - the Ordinati are a few mm longer, a few more mm narrower, and much taller - a bit ungainly, actually.

I was thinking for the Ord Armageddon taking a plasma-cannon bit from the Leman Russ Demolisher in 40K scale for the Nova Cannon. The thing is a starship weapon, after all, I kinda picture it as being almost as large as the tank it's mounted on. Ord Golgotha wouldn't be too hard, I think, I was gonna take a couple of the launch-arrays off the Manticores and put them together, ala the old Whirlwind model, since they have 8 tubes between 2 of them.

I have no idea what to do with the Ord Mars, though. The idea of making it all dish-like seems a little odd to me... Though I may wind up doing it that way anyway.

Use an Ogre from Steve Jackson games (?) They look very cool and have the segmented appearance of an ordinatus.  Plus they offer lots of open area to convert.

I would think that the Voran is a little too small for a proxy. You could look at some of the 10mm CAV tanks. They may work well.

Hi!

I agree, some of the models in this line would make a decent proxy.

If you want cheap like borscht proxies some of the MechWarrior: Dark Age stuff from Wiz Kids make great Ordinati proxies.

I grabbed four of these (MARS assault tank) for around $4 including postage off eBay. They're about 3" long just to give an idea of the scale.

I'd go with ogres, better models than those ordinati for one!

Don't get me wrong... Ogres are a much better miniature all round but whens the last time you saw on Ogre for $0.20?

If your on any sort of a budget and don't mind converting the MW:DA figs are a much better way to go.

If you want to do some scratch building ive got some ordinatus bits i picked up in a job lot that I dont want.

Ive got the base and tower from an ordinatus mars plus the end of an old 40k Shokk Attack Gun that fits it well and looks kinda crazy.  If your interested let me know and ill post a picture.

If you are still looking for a good stand in model, there is a Mechwarrior click called Long Tom (no snickering, please). ?It's about 60mm long (66mm if you count the back of the cannon which hangs off the model), 24mm wide and 13mm high, 28mm high with cannon. ?It has a segemented structure. ?Front section is 28mm long, back section is 32mm. ?It look so much like one it could be a knock off. ?I'm afraid I don't have a picture, but a quick search should produce a photo. ?Models are around $5.00 or less each. ?Mechwarrior has supplied me with alot of great proxies, ideas for new conversions and the smaller mechs (agro, mining, and construction) are what I envision for Ork gargants. ?They are big barrel chested machines with smoke stacks, tracked feet and lots of saw, clamp, or drill weapons plus der dead shooty!
