a couple of years back when i first got into ebay i actually did something similar. ?i realized it was epic scale before the auction ended though and the seller was pretty nice about it.

Yep, but if it is a mistake, something the person did not know (like in your case) or the seller did not know, like one person I saw who had a ton of Epic stuff and the Title was "Little Space Guys". I do not mind. That is just life.

This Poo for Brains is doing it on purpose. He knows what he is doing. That is just wrong on so many levels.

Well, I got a reply from eBay regarding this particular seller's scamming... and I quote:

"I have reviewed the listings you have brought to our attention and taken appropriate action. I would also like to explain eBay's policy with respect to reports like yours.

eBay is not in a position to make judgements about the authenticity or authorised nature of listings, except in the most extreme circumstances.  This may mean that we cannot remove the item about which you contacted us, particularly when it is not blatantly clear from the item itself that it is in some way infringing.

Although you may be extremely knowledgeable about these types of items, we often cannot remove items upon the representations of third parties whose credentials we cannot verify, unless of course the alleged infringement is obvious on its face. That is why we strongly urge you to notify the rights holder of the suspected infringement and encourage them to join our Verified Rights Owners (VeRO) Programme. This programme enables them to request the ending of allegedly infringing listings."

So are they in effect saying it's GW's problem, they should do something about it, not eBay themselves?  ???

I'm sure the cynic in all of us would think 'ask GW to do something about this, and they'd probably think terencestephen's approach to marketing is so good they'd adopt it...'

But I'm sure they'd want to let gamers know what's going on.  Besides, the ammount of revenue they lose from eBay probably annoys them no end...  :D

he's playing on the technicalities mate.  he really "hasn't" done anything wrong per say.  which is a major crux.  the item is in the proper place and the aforementioned poo head does say to read through carefully.  it's like the whole "prices starting at" thing.  it does tell you what the lowest you could get IS but nobody qualifies for that.  Their is evidence on the page that tells you that it's an epic mini, but you have to be from CSI to find it.

Wonder what the bidder on the SPACE MARINE COMPANY MEGA DEAL!! HUGE LOT!!! thought in the end? ?26 for what ?2-3 worth of models if that.

If they paid ?10 for pro painting as well that would be extremely painful!

I cannot understand how they allow him to get away with saying it's a huge lot when it's only 7 stands and 7 vehicles?  Even if it was 40K scale that is not a huge lot.

The same way people get away with calling things pro-painted.  I fully agree that it's screwed up but e-bay in general isn't a kind place for people that aren't cautious.  I tell all the younger gamers to avoid it.  Even veterans who understand the game system well enough to know a good deal and know e-bay CAN be taken by guys like this one.

Thinking about what Firestorm was told it might be interesting to say to Forgeworld about this and Owen_Kid as they are more liekly to be responsive to this type of thing I'd have thought.

With Owen_kid listing models at a higher price it could be deemed as damaging to Forgeworlds reputation / and or finances in direct sales?

Well, I sent Games Workshop an e-mail this morning - I know they can't do anything about eBay's listing policy, but the least they can do is warn unsuspecting gamers if they are buying stuff second hand from internet auction sites like eBay, to check they are getting what they THINK they are bidding on.

But I hadn't thought of contacting Forge World, Enderel, I agree with what you're saying - I'm sure they'd take issue at people charging more than they charge for models, especially if it brings them in to disrepute.

I'm sure the guy who bought 2 Land Raiders and 20 Terminators is now well pissed with the 62 pounds he paid for them.

Good point actually.  One of my friends bought an Eldar superheavy and when it arrived I got a call from him.  I work with casting quite a bit and he wanted me to take a look at it.  The resin was NOT forgeworld resin and the weapons on it were a little rubbery and off color.  He contacted Forgeworld and they were pretty upset.  I dunno what happened after that though.

Once again, I have to agree with dafrca. This feces cranium knows exactly what he's doing and is purposely being deceptive.

I wish did n't have to worry about ebay rating. Otherwise I would bid say ?100 and accept the negative feedback knowing that had screwed the guys auctions up.

And leave him negative feedback too!!

Cheers

James

Maybe we should petition e-bay to place an additional warning screen for people buying from sellers with anonymous feedback

The other option we have is that we ask ebay to change the way they display Epic 40000 on the listings.  I think we should ask them to change it to Epic 40000 (6MM) and the same for 40k (25MM) so it at least differentiates somewhat.  That way even new people might have a chance.  They do it on the other wargames sections...

That's not a bad idea. It would be less confusing for those not familiar with Epic
