I've got a few resin Voss style prows (as seen in this years' Gothicomp!) left over after converting my fleet. I'm tempted to put them on Ebay, but I'm wondering if it would lead to my untimely death at the hands of a GW IP ninja. What do you think? Regards, Reaver

If you cast them yourself, I would probably avoid selling them on ebay to avoid IP violation.

Well advertizing them as Voss prows might cause an issue if the wrong people see it. However something listed as "Conversion parts, suitable for Space Ship wargames such as BFG" is a bit more difficult to pinpoint as an exact IP break as they'll need to see pics of the parts to judge if they are IP infringement. That said this is a bit of a quagmire to navigate so I'd be very cautious to give any definite advice. Technically GW can sue anybody who sells anything which beoynd reasonable doubt looks like IP infringement. However there is of course quitea jump between what GW can do and what they are actually going to do. You might just get away with one or two auctions before anyone sees it.
The best solution would probably be to set a price and then sell them on places like Bartertown or this sitewere less people are likely to see it and the people who do are probably less inclined to report it to the GW attack lawyers.

Technically speaking, probably, because you are earning some sort of profit, albeit via bartering.

Ray Bell mentioned to BlackLegion I believe (he had a friend who made Voss Prows) that selling was forbidden but he was allowed to give them away as 'gifts' (aka we arrange something behind closed doors....).
I also think there is no need to go on ebay, go to the SG site or this site, alot of BFG players want those prows!
If I had some money they would have been mine. Now.

There's no copyrighted iconia like the Aquilla symbol? The sculpting is all your own?

I sculpted it all myself, but the basic shape is obviously GW's copyright. I'm wondering whether I should just keep them a built a bigger fleet! Sounds like less hassle all round... Of course, I've got the mould so I can cast more. Maybe use them as prizes in next year's Gothicomp or something. Regards, Reaver

Giving them away shouldn't be any problem. Donating some as prizes for GothiComp sounds like a brilliant idea.

I would think Warmaster is right. Giving them away would be harder to attack on many levels even if it was still a violation of their rights.
