I am glad he shared the pictures with us. I am curious to see how they translate into masters and final product.

The few cases I have seen in the past have sometimes looked better in the pictures then in the final mini.

Either way, it will be a nice figure.

But you will be sellings these.  Is John Bear going to sell these himself.  I thought he was out of the direct sales side of the business.

These are really sweet models.

Not sure if these will be direct or if he will be selling through others. He has not said. Just shared with us the pictures.  :D

Never happen. They are too into the "We know better then everyone else" to see a good idea they did not come up with.  :/

Course, that is fine with me, I'll be able to buy it a lot cheeper from John or his sellers.

the nice thing about CAD designs such as this, is that they can apparently be re - scaled quite easily.

With regards to the GW should take note / their bad attitude comments, if thats with regard to designing via CAD rather than "true" sculpting - GW do design by computer. The whole Mines of Moria box was done on PC, and thier new Plastics will all go through a CAD stage, even if just a scan in on the new DELcam kit. As much as I hate to admit it, They're at the forefront of miniature tech.

Nope, it was with regards to their failure to accept great ideas and embrace them unless they came up with them.

Look at the games they ahve failed to support regardless of quality just because they were not theirs. Look at the number of ideas generated by the on line community that they could have for free, and elected to reject all of them because their commitee did not come up with them.

Anyone, my self included, who has any interest in CAD design has seen the brage sheets from the companies whose software and hardware GW has used. My favorite was the one about the new Carnifex. Talk about needing hip waders while reading self promotions.....

So, yes, they are the second miniature company I heard about using CAD to do minis, GHQ being the first I heard about. And they are not on the forefront, just keeping up with the rest of the pack. I can now name at least six others also doing it. Just once again, because it is GW, they are quick to take credit where credit is not due.

But please, don't think I dislike them, I do but that does not stop me from seeing there good points. I mean other then GW look alikes like Battlefront and their FOW, who else understands how to market better then GW?

Absolutely not mate.

I do know GW has been working with CAD for a good few years, but I have no great desire to defend them or be a fanboy & stand up for them just for the hell of it. You clearly know your stuff better than I do & if they aint at the front, then good on those who are! :D :D

Oh they are in front of the pack, just not leading the way.  :p

There is keeping up and then there is walking the bleeding edge.
