Has anyone built Epic railroads? With what? Most of our Epic battles take place on a planet called Barbarossa II and feature the heroic (Rebel) Alliance of Workers and Farmers. 20th century railroads fit very well in this setting. Z-scale (1:220) seems to be the best bet, if I end up buying model railroad stuff. |

Z gauge is the closest in terms of scale, however most I have seen use N gauge as it is easier to get hold of and cheaper. Carl Woodrow on his boards used N gauge http://www.dropship.org.uk/projects/e40k006.asp has an overhead shot. Here are my photographs of his terrain taken at GamesDay 2001 ![]() ![]() More pictures here of the game: http://www.ifelix.co.uk/phoepic_b05.html Personally on my epic boards I will be using N gauge. |

I was also going to say that z gauge is closest in scale but tends to be very specialised as few model to that scale, ie tiny customer base = very hard to get hold of and much more expensive. The next up is N gauge, a relatively popular scale and therefore your best bet as Jimbo points out. |

The other thing is that if you want stuff to put on the rails, N gauge will be accessible (pricewise) compared to z gauge. Though I have been trying to find some flat wagons with little luck. Another option comes to mind. Dragon Armoured Train They also do flat wagons. Add some Epic turrets to the models and it might look okay. |

Hi Guys, Jimbo is, as usual, right! ![]() N-scale is larger, but more widely availible and often more price-competitive than Z-scale. However, most microarmor trains fit better on to Z-scale and many lead-cast versions of trains and track (Such as those from Irregular and H&R) conform better with Z-scale. Try this link: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bob_macken ... 20Guns.htm I personally prefer Z-scale despite the slightly higher cost. Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

Hi Asaura, I almost forgot to mention... There no reason why you can't have one or even BOTH scales if you want to. N-gauge RR track can easily be heavy-gauge track in Epic terms! Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

I know the "N" is easy to get, but I dislike the size when a stand of troops or Leman Russ is next to it. ![]() But that is just me. ![]() I would buy the cheapest so I could leave more money for Epic. ![]() dafrca |

Hi Dafrca and Gang, I know what you mean about the cheapest RR track availible, but I think that terrain is an investment and spending some money on it isn't a bad thing even if... Terrain is really meant to showcase our miniatures... Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

Tas I have seen the Karl Mortar in the flash and it is very nice. I also have seen the CanDo Leopold German Railway Gun which was way cool. I was almost tempted to get into 1/144th scale World War Two gaming with these models... |
