OK, just curious, do you use the flat top style hills for better figure stability or the more realistic looking hills with only slopes? Why?

I like both, but I just made a flat-topped set because it was easier.

Hi!

Flat top. Practicality is key. :)

Flat-topped. ?Many miniatures have a hard time standing up on a level field, let alone a slope! ?
?I found some inch-thick slabs of green foam somewhere (a gardening supply store) once. ?That was about as easy as it gets, hill-wise.

Hills with very slight slopes work almost as effectively as flat-tops.

I have had a massive set of 'slightly sloping' modular hills made for me by a friend, in exchange for some painting. I need to paint and flock them, but haven't got time at the moment.  I'm currently stuck with flat-top hills, which are ok, but I am looking forward to having these more aesthetically pleasing hills finished.

Nice Dread Pariah. Flat-top bec (1) they're practical (2) we've got loads of real ones here, on the island of Gozo.

I use flat ones for climbable hills, and round/odd shaped ones for unclimbable ones. :D

All the Epic hills I've made so far have a gentle incline and no flat bits- Epic minis stand up fine, and they look great too...
I have to say I'm generally more for the look of things than gaming practicality though!

Hi!

I just hate it when I play and I cant get the darn model to stand appropriately on a curved hillside. It may look funy, but flat, falt, flat hills for me!

Flat. Even though it makes the landscape to look somewhat like an Aztec city but you can't get everything. The Gentle slope hills would have to be huge if I'd want them to have any significant height at all.  :(

I am with you here. I am willing to give up a little of the "realistic" look for hills that will support my figures.  :D
