Post subject:  Small bitz Resin casting?

Hi guys!

As mentioned in the "What are you working on thread" I'm doing some Epic Defilers. The main part of the body is fairly easy to construct from a rhino but the more I look at it the more I realize that I probably have to scratch build the claws for the front part of the beast.

Thing is that i don't think I have the patience to build 6 or more sets of claws so I was thinking about casting them in resin. (and since they are scratch built there shouldn't be any IP problems there...)

Anyone got any tips for casting bits that small?

I've got some good quality two part silicone rubber for the mould but the only kind of resin I can get my hands on is the clear transparent stuff.

Cheers!  :)

Try laser material deposition... :p  sorry, couldn't resist. Off to sit in a corner for the rest of the hour.

Make sure you have a travel path for bubbles to escape when you make the mold.  Pound the snot out of the mold and hope the bubbles all let go.  Expect to make a lot more casts than you need actual parts and/or patch bubble holes with putty.
