The local store got some of these and the owner opened up one ox of each type (there are two "types").
The plastic is slightly brittle, but workable. The way they link, you would not want to use them like Legos, no matter what they say, because they will break off.
Rather buy a few sets, build what you want, and glue it down and base it.
Just my take.

I agree. It breaks to easily to be as flexible as the producent wants to think.
