Hello all, For those interested I finally took my digital camera down to the gaming club. All these ships are painted and owned by Lamont. ?These ships represent Battleships of the predreadnought era. ?The conflict is the Russo-Japanese war and the Battle is the Yellow Sea. ? Sorry for the low quality of many of the pics. ?I forgot my little tripod and the lighting is not good in a big conference room. ? But I hope they potray the look of the action. Take Care Yellow Sea |

I was browsing a bit about in your briefcase. The L?tzow and similar BB are the GHQ models right? How big are they? I think they look awsome and feel very tempted to buy a couple for myself... Cheers! ![]() |

Warmaster nice, The models I own are GHQ. The resin models above are Panzerschiffe. They are the same size and of decent quality. The bigegst difference is that the GHQ ships have more detail, you can actually see the deck planks, and the turrets are seperate peices. I ulitmately choose GHQ becuase I felt the seperate turrets make the ship come alive so much more. Now to be fair Lamont's minis, he will never have to worry about bent barrels or broken masts. The Panzerschiffe ships are solid one piece models. My battlecruisers are aproximatly 3.3" inches long, thats for the Lion class. Some of the earlier designs are a little smaller. I have put them on a 4" inch base. I don't know if any of the dreadnoughts themselves are longer. Thanks for the compliments I hope to bring you more pictures in the future. Because it was all about the pictures. ![]() |

I went through the same thing with the 1/285th troops. GHQ used to make troops as cubes. Some called the Sardine Can troops. Then H@R came out with their Modern Troops. So my choice was separate more realistic troops stands, but take the chance some would break off at the ankles, or buy the GHQ ones and have solid stands that would never break even if tossed across the room. I went with the H@R troops . dafrca |

The Hood would probably be longer. IIRC, the Hood was the longest ship the RN had until WWII. |

Hi! GHQ makes lovely stuff for WWII. I particularly love their new infantry. I once saw close up thier line and naval ships and was quite impressed with the quality. Primarch |

Yes, the new infantry is nice. The old stuff was less so. ![]() One of the things I have loved and hated about GHQ is that their stuff is so detailed. The detail is nice to look at, but often gets lost once painted. I have seen some Scotia stuff next to GHQ, before painting GHQ hands down looks better, but once painted and on the table, the two do not look that different. dafrca |

The other problem is that at 1/285 scale a 20mm gun barrels are pretty thin when done accurately. Now imagine a quad 20mm Flak gun |

Hey CC, I really like the names and graphics you have stuck on the ships for identification - really VERY nice and highly professional looking. |

I'm surprised (and inpressed) that they even bothered trying to include 20mm barrels at that scale. |

Hey Tas, I appreciate the comments. ?But must give credit where credit is due. ?All these ships belong too and were painted by my friend Lamont, all around good gamer. ?I pass the praise onto him. ? He is the one who started all this insanity. ?I am just following behind him down the path of the darkside. ![]() My ships are being painted now. ?The first is nearly complete. As for 20mm guns at 6mm scale... Quad Flak |
