Hi all. I got a few GHQ Micro Armour pieces through today, and they reminded me just how 'cartoony' Epic stuff really can be!

Anyway, I am starting to have issues with GHQ, since they seem to supply limited numbers to this side of the globe, and are extremely expensive for what you get.

So, I have always liked Scotia stuff, but I dont have anything in front of me right now. I wondered what opinions there are out there. They are a LOT cheaper than GHQ, and you can order individually, which is great. But, are they anywhere near as detailed? I am looking at the armour primarily, as I will probably get any 6mm infantry from GHQ, but is the Scotia infantry good?

Also, why is there such an incredibly limited British WWII range? Anyone know?

So, any comments on the Scotia range and the detail would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi!

GHQ stuff is beautiful and as been mentioned in other threads much better than epic minis for size and detail. They have however become pretty "pricey" and as you mention, overseas orders get too expensive.

You mention Scotia, but how about C-in-C? They are pretty good quality and cheaper too.

Wow. They are nice! Is ordering direct the only way to get these in the UK? Thanks, I will probably get a load of these, they look even better than GHQ!

Hi!

I beleive ordering direct is the only way unforntunately. They have only recently (about a year) been casting again after a couple of years of inactivity, so their penetration with distributors and retailers is low.

According to what I gather from forums and anecdotal accounts they are very nice to deal with so e-mail or phone them for what you want. By the way they are the same guys that sell the old centurion tanks from FASA's old centurion game.

From the point of view of quality to price, C-in-C is HIGHLY recommended by most 6mm fans.

I'm glad the information was useful. :)

I didnt think that I would find anything that appealed to me more than GHQ. I am such a slow painter that I am not so worried about the price of the minis, as long as the price seems reasonable. But, the C-in-C stuff seems great, and I am about to order some to get an idea of how it looks.
:p

Just another quick question, about the C-in-C infantry. It seems that a pack of infantry contains about 50 troopers all in the same pose. Is this the case? The pictures are few and far between, and what pictures there are seem to show identicle infantry.

Thanks.

Not all the packs have a single pose. I know the US Modern AA has a few poses. Can't speak for all of them though.

Hi!

CS, I've never seen the infantry, I believe they are not multi-pose. In theat department its hard to beat GHQ with their multi-positioned infantry. In that department they are the best.

Thanks guys. Very useful. I must admit that I really like the GHQ infantry, particularly the British. On top of that, the C-in-C packs seem a little cheaper than GHQ, but not a whole lot. I do think that I prefer their castings though. So, I guess that I will get some GHQ infantry and C-in-C armour (and they have more aircraft as well).

Thanks.

A mate of mine has a small mortgage in GHQ figures. He used to have quite a lot of CinC stuff but looks down on it now... not enough detail compared to GHQ according to him... though the figures are so small to my eyes it hardly matters IMHO  :p

Hi!

Many recommend buying C-in-C for "horde" armies like the russians and buying GHQ for pieces that are less needed.

The GHQ infantry is, however, too good and IMO heads and shoulders above the competition.

So a mix of C-in-C and GHQ is a very good idea.

Scotia does not have the detail of GHQ or CinC ...

I have been thinking about getting Scotia. Sure, the GHQ stuff is nice, but it's also VERY expensive. Plus there is a drawback in being extremely accurate in 6mm. Even a 128mm gun barrel bends when you breath at it too hard (figuratively speaking)  so think what it's like with 20mm barrels...  :O

However, Scotia seems to lack infantry so I have been considering using GHQ infantry. Unless it looks too big? They do have a small scale difference.

I guess that it is true that you get what you pay for. Well, I guess that I will go with GHQ infantry and C-in-C armour. I will get a couple of packs of C-in-C to compare the detail to the GHQ stuff that I already have. Even if the GHQ infantry is a little oversized (and I dont know whether it is or not), it is still very nice stuff, and you get about 60 in a pack so the price is not too bad for that (I can get 6-12 squads out of it).

Thanks again. Remind me in a couple of weeks and I will follow up with a comparrison between the two makes of armour.

Well, in the space of a couple of hours, I have done a complete turnaround! :D ?

Looking further at the two sites, I notice that the saving of C-in-C varies from around a dollar (four tanks for $5 against five for $9) to a couple of dollars. In addition, the detail is just not quite as good.

My first sight was of the Challenger, which is a really nice mini from C-in-C, but further inspection of the Panzer IVD shows that GHQ has much more detail. Add to this the fact that GHQ do have an outlet here in the UK, although it is woefully understocked and wont get any resupplies until Feb 2005 ( ) makes shipping much cheaper.

So, it looks like it will be GHQ, except that some of the C-in-C modern stuff is quite nice. It must be something about the sleeker lines of modern armour.
