While there has been a bit of discussion of the size of the base for Epic objectives, I thought that I would throw this out. What do you think about objectives on a standard circular base of 30cm diameter? While this seems a little large, it makes it easier to see who controls the objectives, since stands need to be within 15cm of it. So, if they are on the base, they qualify. It also means that the actual objective mini can be anything and any size, since it is all on the same size base.

Would this work?

Hmmm.... It would work fine I guess, but it isn't something I would do personally, unless there was a particular objective that would suit a large base like that... also, I'm not really a fan of uniform round bases for terrain or objectives- I prefer nice flowing curves as they look more natural....

30cm sounds huge...

60mm (or 6cm) is quite large enough for me for objective markers...

The "old" SM2 OBJ counters were the size of a square infantry base.  Just a thought ! :D

I prefer those old ones, myself.  It makes the objective more abstract, so it fits into any sort of terrain by the very fact that it doesn't resemble terrain at all.  You can make the woods an objective, a valuable hill, a building, etc.

Thinking about this more, and I think that you are right. I will just make them any size, but try to have a defined feature to measure from. Thanks.

Yes "P/P", that is the way we see it. ?On a military overlay on a map, an "OBJ" is usually a circle on a town, bridge, barely perceptible ridge, etc. ?What we have done is put the OBJ counter on the board, next to the ruined temple, Star Gate, compound etc., it looks neat and is kind of "realistic" ... :;):

I hope to make some objective counters later today based on 2" washers...

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Jervis has said that 60mm is the absolute maximum size an objective should be. Anything larger, he said, should be placed with the caveat that only a certain part of the terrain feature would count as the 'true' objective.

He also said that any objective counter wouldn't block LOF or count as terrain of any sort, no matter how it was modelled, because otherwise people would be using bunkers or emplacements for objectives etc.

Jervis may have said it was the maximum size, but I would not want to use objectives that large. But of course that is just my opinion.  :;):

I built two fuel/supply dumps on 2" washers today as well as more woods.

Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi!

Instead of counters I have been using those old Epic-40k era objective models. They look nice and are small enough to make good "markers."

I'm finding that I like the look of 2 inch fender washers for objectives.

Shabbat Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
