Having a rare browse on Protent, and came across this rather good 40k Leviathan: http://www.geocities.com/jdcolombo/workshop8.html

Nice piece of work eh? ..and a very cool and challenging project.

Hi!

Pretty cool!

Although I still wonder why people make such things for 40k when its so much easier in epic scale.... :;):

After seeing Krooza's Kulussus I keep thhinking "Ork" when I see these superheavies.

I wonder what caliber shells they load into the main gun. -And more importantly: Where do they store more than one or two extra shells???

Cheers! :)

Wow.  and again, Wow.  Do people actually play with these monster sized things in 40k, or are they just for show?

Can you imagine the points/cost to purchase the army to oppose just a Leviathan by itself?   It boggles the mind.

Hi!

I remember when armorcast used to do their titans for 40k, very popular and were frequent on the tabletop as special scenarios (conventional troops vs. titans).

..And there are now! FW produces rules for their superheavies 'n all for 40k..
I highly reccomend their Imperial Armour Vol 1 book, even if you don't play 40k- it is very nicely produced, packed to bursting with excellent, 'realistic' style camo schemes, marking guides, cutaways, loads of great 'photoshopped to realism' style pics and loads more...
L4 would love it I'm sure...  :;):

..FW have their Warhounds of course (think they have experimental rules available), and coming within the next year apparantly we will have a Tyranid bio-titan, and an Eldar Revenant to match the SG one we saw previewed a couple of weeks ago....

-AS for why to build these beasts in 40k; I can see the attraction- THEY LOOK COOL
..thats the simple answer in my opinion- personally I could see no point in building one just for use in a 40k game, but as a modelling project, it would be a great challenge and really satisfying to complete it... I speak as someone for whom the modelling/painting aspect of the hobby is more fun than playing, so feel free to rubbish my thoughts if you think differently...  :D

Hi!

I'll ask my friend who likes 40k for that armor book and check it out.

No, I agree with you 100%. These 40k sized models are a challenge and a fun project. I remember the first time I saw the site with the 40k sized Imperiator Titan. It was being built by hand. I am sure it was the idea of it, not the use of it, that drove the person to make it.
