As a followup to the discussion in the BFG area here a work in progress shot of the pocket battleship.
The basic idea is that it should look like an upgunned version of the Venegance. I've tried to add various chaos bitz to add to the feel of an early pre-heresy ship design.
I used imperiaal launch bays along the keeel of the ship to mimic the triangular "spikes" on many of the chaos vessels and also placed some chaos "bridge-wings" to the Venegance bridge.

Interesting bits for main hull- could n't see that listed anywhere on GW/FW online stores!!

Really cool idea about using the imperial launch bays to mimic chaos spiky bitz- I may have to steal ahem I mean borrow that idea some time in the future.

How does the little bruiser compare in size to say Vengeance GC or Retribution BB?

How do you make the prows? By doing a GS negative of the prow and then 'casting' it from another lump? ???

Storm: Erh... No...-ish *looks arround for any GW Lawyers* Lets just say that I've found a way of sculpting them so that they look remarkably like the original ?:;): :p ?But hypothetically speaking: That is indeeed a method you could use to produce a similar result :cool:


I'm quite happpy with the way this ship has turned out so I was thinking of building my Battlecruisers in a similar way so they'll become slightly bigger than the regular cruisers of the line.
I know that many Battlecruisers (such as the Armagedddon) are just slightly re-fitted normal cruisers but couldn't it be justified to have purpose built Battlecruisers which differ somewhat in looks from the regular cruisers? As long as their armament remain the same the rest of the hull could differ somewhat from battlefleet to battlefleet.

What I want to do, is to build a battlecruiser which consist of a slightly wider hull and possibly a Venegance prow (Or a bigger regular cruiser prow) the bridge will be made from the Chaos bridges. It might be a problem with the Armageddon BC since it is supposed to be a re-fitted Lunar but then again... The fluff is just there as a starting point right? :;): ?The thing is just that I'd like to differentiate my BC's more from the standard Cruisers of the line.

Why not make a bigger battlecruiser- just say your Armageddon is built from a new hull pattern instead of being a Lunar mod; go for it, its pretty easy o think up a reason for this sort of ship! :)

Well I began construction of 3 Battlecruisers and yet another Pocket Battleship.
I re-fitted my oold Armageddon into a Gothic and chopped up my Mars to give me a bunch of parts.

The Pocket battleship will be based on the remains of the hull but with the addition of a Chaos cruiser prow which will be built up with GS to look a bit more like a Repulsive. This second PB will be more of a dedicated gunship with mostly weapons batteries. Think a light Retribution and you're pretty close.

The remaining parts, along with the rest of the weapons in my bits box, are being assigned to the Armageddon, Mars and Overlord Battlecruisers. So far the "Spines" have been made and the weapon batteris added. Still a very long way to go.

I really like the concpet WMN.  How does this model cpmpare to a normal imperial cruiser,a vengence class grand cruiser, and a battleship?

It's just about the same size as a Venegance. Perhaps a few mm. longer. It looks a bit bulkier than the Venegance IMO as the Venegance has a pretty "T-shaped" body and the upper gun decks in particular look a bit detatched from the rest of the ship (This becomes particularly apparent when you build some of the Venegance variants such as the Retailator). This ship is a bit more compact for it's size.

Oh, by the way: In case you didn't allready notice it in the other thread I'm also working on a second ship. Here's a quick WIP shot.
