Does anyone know of any model makers who makes ships to order? I'm wanting someone to make the Battlestar Galactica ship to the same scale as a battleship. Just wondering... would be nice. |

Yerh I guessed it would be a little small. Youd certainly need a custom made model if you wanted something bigger ie 5" or 6" long. Ive made a few completely scratch built models. I reakon it would involve about 20 to 30 hrs work to make such a model. The cost of which would not be cheap. Maybe better to find two of these 3" models and do a "cut n shut" job. Youd end up with something looking close to the battlestar galactica model. And it would be a lot cheaper |

Id charge u about ?50 for the work plus the cost of parts used, which could be anything up to ?40 or more as I always use GW parts where ever possible. For that you would get a hight quality model as detailed as any BFG model. But then Im not cheap. Im sure there must be plenty of people that would make it for less. And I should also add Id be unable to make it as I dont have the time right now. Ive resently been asked to make a Elder Titan for WH40k so thats taking up my time. |

Mate, Thats certainly not expensive. FOr an estimate of 20-30 Hours, your rate works to ?2.50 an hour. Most pro sculptors would be quoting ?100-?150 (?5 an hour) _minimum_. Fanatic pay ?300 for a Cruiser sized ship. Keep that in mind! And Krooza - Xavi is right, if you dont post at least one update about the 40K titan, you'll not live to regret it.... ![]() ![]() |

Well guess Im just a cheap arse then ![]() Mind you I dont confess to being the greatest sculptor and certianly would not be able to make a model souly from clay. If I was to make such a ship it was be made from plastic card, which inturn would be filled with MilliPut. The detail would mostly be made from an asortment of bitz from Airofix kits and the like. The end result when painted would look as good as any other BFG model. But certainly not all my own work. ![]() As for the WH40k Elder Titan. Well that again isnt going to be souly my work. Im using a Bandai kit as a starting point so its realy just a fancy convertion job. The model can be seen here http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/kr00zza Its in its fully constructed non-converted stage so you can see its a very elderish model anyway. It stand about 11" high so scale wize its about as large as an Ork Stomper would be in WH40k. Theres a lot of Japanese models like this that word work well in WH40k. The Robotech range are the best. This model is a 1/100 scale Tactical Pod Glaug. Other models that would work well are the Tomahawk and Rifleman. I bought this model from ebay for ?25. As a rule I find the 1/100 scale models work well for WH40k. Some of these models are also made in 1/72 scale. But these are a lot rarer so much more expencive. I was actualy looking for something completely different at the time, a Xabungle Dugger type robot, a pic of which can been see here http://dougram.battletechnology.org/Xab ... rgeKit.jpg Weather or not I convert this model too Im not sure. I had one of these some 15yrs ago and it got lost and I realy wanted it again, and as my modeling skills have greatly increased in that time Im hoping to do the model justise this time ![]() |
