Spent some time last month working on some of my 15mm 40K armies, primarily Necrons:

"15mm 40K"

I'm not sure I understand the appeal - it's got neither the model range of 28mm, nor the ruleset of 6mm... Isn't it difficult to get the models looking right?

15mm (and 6mm) have a huge number of figure lines available, many of which can easily proxy for 40K models. Vehicles are more problematic, but it makes for an interesting modeling challenge.

As to rules, one can play 40K using standard or reduced measurements (and table sizes; the mat used in the photos above works great as a half-size table using halved ranges - and fits on a small dining table). And if the rules don't appeal, there are a number of very good rules sets available for replicating the feel of the 40K setting and geared towards 15mm figures.

And I can create 3 to 4 ~2500 point armies in 15mm for what it would cost to create a single 40K army of similar size.

Long time since my last post. This time Ive tried some early war british infantry from Warlord Games. I like the minis, but its a different approach compared to scifi/fantasy, with the battlefield dirt type look. Unsure whether to do more highlights, I guess it works OK for gaming purposes like this.

I've been lured to the dark side of warmaster and have been painting a slew of reinforcements for my dark elves:

After that it's back to 6mm to get an eldar army ready, then warmaster dwarfs

Looking really nice! The Manticore is a great mini - I never got into Warmaster, wish I had...
