Hi all, time for a new non-blog, or rather a list of unfinished projects. This morning I made my first purchase of the year - a rather cheap (7Euros) box of 44 1:72 scale Samurai by Zvezda. I dreaded a boxful of bendy plastic with flash, but was pleasantly surprised - they're VERY nice, and I can only recommend them heartily. For a review and full description, take a look here.  ![]() This was a lucky find, as I'd wanted to get a small Samurai force for ages now, and this looks like it's a good wayto go - they're relatively cheap, and easy to store being so small. So as long as I don't try to build a fortress...... I've started work on the first one. The Citadel Foundation paints adhere beautifully, and if lightly applied do not hide the detail. They're a challenge to paint, but very nice indeed. |

Day 2: cleaned up the workbench a bit - at least the surface has reappeared. I found bits from at least 13 projects.... urgl. What I REALLY wish to work on are a WHFB Imperial army, Warmaster demons, Epic Eldar and my brand new Samurai. We'll see how it goes. |

And now for the big question.... What rules are you going to use for your Samurai? (This is something that I investigated not too long ago.) |

Close-ups - will do - but not before Wednesday. The bases: the usual od style Epic squares; one has a square block of wood cut at an incline, the other has one of the usual keys from a scrapped keyboard. Rules: they're 1:72, so a bit small for WH Ancients, although that would be ok for me - since they're from the 16th-17th century, I'd have to find rules which include powder weapons. Then again, knowing me, they won't see much action.... There are 3 Zvezda sets - this one, a set of mounted samurai, and a fun set of a warlord with retinue, am enclosure, and even a pair of ninjas! I've only seen the one I own, but might try to get the others and a few more of the infantry - a couple of boxes per side would make for a good skirmish. And compared to metals, they ARE cheap. |

And now for something different - this is a WHFB Pink Horror standard bearer - the standard being his tail. I thought it looked a bit silly and replaced it with one borrowed off a Skaven. Interesting to note there is someone who looks a lot like him in one of Hieronymus Bosch's paintings.... |

Off course the tail remains unseen - d'oh. Anyway, here he is again with a friend who I decided to call Hieronymus. I have to admit this was a model bought 2nd hand from a friend - and most of the paint is not my own. I just cleaned up his skin and changed his coat colours. Couldn't poring myself to remove the original face paint job. |
