Hi all, Since I dont get time to poast to the many forums I'd like to, and since the Mercenary Brush site has shut down, I decided to make use of Cybershadow's great site & have started my own blog, charting my painting, designing, gaming and writing exploits for all things gaming. It will mainly feature DRM stuff, but if I ever get any free time to myself, there'll be a lot more besides too, so I thought it best be posted here rather than a more specific baord ![]() Please note that whilst I do do a lot of the design & development for DRM, its just my own ramblings, so cannot be directly related to what DRM is working on at the moment! (though it might give an insight of sorts... ![]() Whilst I'm here - congrats to all for the amazing work shown on this site, it never fails to impress - I just wish I had time to contribute to all the threads I've seen! |

Yay, TuffSkulls back. You'll just have to stop that climbing lark if you need time to post here ![]() Is the Mercenary going to open again or is that it? It was good to see the gallery whereas it's more difficult on the blog. I'll be watching the blog closely though (mine own is there anyhow) Welcome home. |

I just wanted to feed back on a few of the ideas that you made that I really like the sound of... Krayts - savage/berserker infantry, light cav, heavy bomber Andys - spotter drones, mini cav, artillery walker Pax - quads (hell, yeah!), static guns, flame tanks, heli crane These are based on the 'rule of cool', rather than any game/background/force requirements. Also, I did want to say that I have the TacWarNet blog system on RSS, so I actually read every entry for every blog. Keep it up, guys. |

Hi guys & thanks for the support ![]() Is the Mercenary going to open again or is that it? It was good to see the gallery whereas it's more difficult on the blog. I'm afraid the Mercenary Brush has certainly hit the can as far as a painting service goes. i still have thousands upon thousands of images of miniatures I'm very proud of though, so I would like to get a gallery site back up at some point, but it wont be any time soon - there's just not enough hours in the day (and no, i'm not giving up my climbing... ![]() Krayts - savage/berserker infantry, light cav, heavy bomber Andys - spotter drones, mini cav, artillery walker Pax - quads (hell, yeah!), static guns, flame tanks, heli crane These are based on the 'rule of cool', rather than any game/background/force requirements. I like your choices too! I've now posted some thoughts on where such things would fit into the various Race's Force orgs and developments, for those that are interested too. |

Step one, go to navwar! See the available models in the flesh (flash). http://www.navwar.co.uk/nav/ (I think the bulk of their stuff is heroics and ros) My memory is failing me, didn't minifigs have a line of poorly detailed stuff? I know I had GHQ for the showy tank stuff and another company for the bulk of the purchases, as they were a damn sight cheaper! Otherwise flames of war is for those that haven't got a copy of blitzkrieg commander! Or you can bore yourself with spearhead. Otherwise bring and buys are the place to go! There are loads of sites though, heres one showing the navwar figures http://www.freewebs.com/gupiao/index.htm Oh there are bad models from Irregular miniatures and I think Scotia has some though I haven't seen them. Oh and C in C (very bad infantry). Oh and Skytrex. And Adler ![]() In the unlikely event you need terrain their are a million companies out there. Heres one at random from a search http://02a7218.netsolstores.com/ |

Hello Tuffskull, Good to see you among us. I'm sad to see you let go of your 15mm Soviet army. It is a beautiful force. if storage is a problem you can send it to me and I will take care of it unitl you need it back. Will that work, if not of well. You can't blame a man for trying... ![]() in y WWI shopping experince nothing comes close to the quality and detail of GHQ. while more expensive they are worth it. One note of warning is that because of their fine detial the gun barrels must be treated well. I had a hige force of modern armor with a whole mess of tanks and APCs. Not one barrel was straight. I high recommned mounting them on bases so the barrels will be avoided. one other source of 6mm is c in c. Not as detial as GHQ of course but some decent stuff. CinC Good luck |

Wonderful army there Tuff, if I collected 15mm I'd take it off your hands too, very, very quickly ![]() I went down the route that you are now exploring, 6mm (there should be a couple of snaps of my armies on my wiki blog) but for me only GHQ will do, the others just don't compare though well painted (as only you can do!) they can look impressive and recognisable enough if money is a prime concern. Personally a smaller GHQ army suits me better. |

Heres one at random from a search http://02a7218.netsolstores.com/ I've had a look through the Navwar site & will certainly be ordering soem test pieces from them at some point. As for Flames of war Vs BKC, BKC is well on my Radar. My main reason for going primarily with FoW is that it offers me an excuse to do larger bases which I thinkn will work better for me. I dont think BKC will be hard to convert to a couple of forces on a larger base size & I will certainly be giving the rules a go. If I actually get a chance to play a game, I want it to be a game, rather than an attempt at full on Battlefield simulation. From what I've heard, spearhead tends towards the latter & thus isn't on my "to buy" list. I've already booked an hour off fromt eh DRM stand at the Warfare show in Reading to scour the place for 6mm soviets ![]() Not so keen on the adler infantry myself - the oversized heads do paint up nice, but just dont do it for me. Timecast have been good to me over the years - I've already been looking at terrain from them for this project ![]() |

Some people seem to swear by them (ranked right under GHQ, of course...) whilst other's dont rate them at all. I think they're rather variable range to range, so another test order will likely be going in - I'm thinking a T34 from every manufacturer ![]() |

GHQ will certainly feature, but I've just painted up a test set of SU122s from Skytrex & I'm liking the results & the speed of painting I can achieve on the simpler sculpts, so I might have to go the penny pincher route. Pics of the SU122s will be on my blog soon, so you can all cast your votes as to whether I can get away with saving some pennies or need to splash for the special stuff ![]() |

Most of the 6mm guys I know use GHQ vehicles and Adler infantry, in large part because of the greater variety of poses, as well as being cheaper. Good to hear of success with the Skytrek SU122, looking forward to seeing it. |
