My plan to get some chimeras painted friday afternoon did not, alas, come to fruition. I touched up the under-coat (where it had missed), and because I was waiting for that to dray I couldn't really get on. So instead I made some more Epic minis - Whirlwinds and Hunters for my Epic Iron Hands, and some Land Speeders and a Thunderhawk for my Epic Fire Storm army. The latter two bunch of models had me cursing quite a lot, I can tell you (I'm sure anyone who's made the new Epic Land Speeders or Thunderhawk can relate ).
Anyway, today I sat down and finished the final two assault marines in that squad. Thank goodness! Feels like I've been painting them forever!
Anyway, here they are - the ones painted today were the Sarge (middle) and the one right of him:

Again, I'm trying to get the lighting right to get the details... still comes out a bit dark though, and I suppose the sunset shadow doesn't help!
Tomorrow I actually WILL paint the remaining 5 chimeras (and perhaps an Epic objective). Then it's on to new things... well, when I say new, it's still Marines and Epic!

Thank you everyone for your continuing feedback and praise! You make me feel very special
I'm back with a very quick turn around today! ? ?As threatened, I painted the 5 remaining chimeras:

So that's all of them done now for the Mechanised Infantry detachment, and furthermore that's the first detachment of my Epic Guard army finished! ? ?Started in october, what a long time it took! ?I must say though, I expected to hate painting this army, but I've enjoyed doing the infantry an awful lot, and it's been great that the chimeras can be painted so quickly (now you can't say in 40k 'I painted 5 Chimeras in 2 1/2 hours!' ? ). ?So much so that in the future I'd like to add two more identical Mechanised Infantry detachments to take it to a full company.
So we roll on to february, what will it bring? ?Well, the reminder of this week there'll be no time for painting or making minis sadly, as I'm helping my girlfriend clear out her house ready for it to go on the market.
But next week I have my scheduled mapped out: - Make (and start painting) two FW Epic Warhound Titans - Start painting that Apothecary-wounded marine objective I made a few months back - Finish making my 'secret' objective project - convert some Epic minis - mainly my 40k Fire Storm captain in to Epic scale for my Epic Fire Storm army.
On top of those my target for February is also to paint this tactical squad and it's sergeant for my Fire Storm army:

Thank you again for all the kind comments! Today I started a week (well, 4 days) of making, converting, and painting minis. I began today by making a start on that Space Marine Objective (the one with the Apothecary and the dying Marine). I painted the base, the dying Marine, and started on the Apothecary. Here's the Marine (my apologies, dark pic):

Then I made two FW Warhound Titans which are for my Epic Guard army (and eventually 5,000 points of AMTL ! ). I added some embellishments to their bases (in the form of ruins, a wrecked rhino, and there's a guardsman in there somewhere!). Apologies for the blurry pic:

These have now been given a spray of varnish, so the primer sticks to them properly, and texture added to the base. Tomorrow I'll prime it.
Also, I'll carry on with the objective, start painting some Epic Guard objectives, and have a go at some conversions for Epic - namely a Damocles command tank for my Iron Hands amongst other things. It's going to be a busy week!

Okay, I started today converting some Epic minis. ?Here's a (very blurred!) pic of the Damocles Command Tank which will be part of an objective for my Epic Iron Hands:
I made the antenna from plasticard, and the hook from a 40k Rhino vehicle accessories sprue. ?I didn't have any of the Rhino antenna's to hand, otherwise I'd have used that. ?Also - and you can't see this because of the bad pic! - the plasticard is very uneven! ? ?I've got the ideas (or in this case, pilfered from other people), just not enough skill to carry them through sometimes!
I was in a bit of an Epic converting fervour at this point, and set about work on another Iron Hands objective. ?I started off by making a Heavy Tech-servitor, which is this blob:
I made this from an old Epic Robot I had, the servo arm is made from sprue, and it's got an Orgyn head on it (which you can't see from this bad pic). ?Getting this latter bit turned out to be a bit on the dangerous side - I sliced the top of my finger open cutting the Ogryn head off! [yoooowwch!!!] ?On top of that I lost the head... so had to do it again (without personal injury this time). ?I'll finish converting the rest of this objective tomorrow.
Next I carried on with the Marine objective, this time spending some time on the Apothecary, and getting the base finished. ?Here it is, and again blurriness works in my favour as it looks a little more neatly painted than it actually is!

Tomorrow will be a day of Green Stuffery (I beg your pardon? ? ), I'll be working on several things: the two Iron Hands objectives, my Fire Storm Captain in Epic, and my top-secret diorama/objective thing I started a month or so ago.
Till then, enjoy! ?
