looking good, i'm toying with the idea of basing my whirlwinds, rhinos, etc - what does everyone else think, especially in terms of gaming....?

Nice minis, firestorm.

Minitj, I prefer to leave my vehicles unbased.

Having painted a few more Epic Chimeras, I turned back to my Fire Storm Marines, and painted the first of those Assault Marines.  My apologies for the dark picture, need to get some decent photo software back on computer!  :/

I'm fairly happy with it, but not totally - I did rush it, and some of the details could have been better.  I nearly messed the eye-lenses up totally!  That's the problem with trying to keep to targets and self-set deadlines I suppose, rushing yourself when time is tight.  I may return to it though and do some chevrons on the Melta-bomb, what do you think?

Next week I hope to paint two more Assault Marines, but seeing as I have an assignment to write, as well as continuing to help my girlfriend with her decorating, I might be rushing those as well!  :o0

Great stuff Firestorm 40k

Minitj: I also prefer unbased. Not that I don't think based vehicles look cool but I like my tanks to fit in with all types of terrain ie. I don't liike a grassy base in the middel of a cityfight piece.

Cheers! :)

This week I fell slightly short of my painting target, and only managed one Assault Marine, rather than two.  I was very busy with an assignment, which was a bit of a nightmare - glad I'll never have to do that one again!  :/

Anyway, here's a pic of said Marine, I'm still not able to get a fully decent pic - with my camera it seems to be a compromise between getting the colours, or the details.  I'll keep trying though!

Next week I hope that I can get one more Assault Marine done, and perhaps a few more Chimeras.  Not so much uni work to do, but we need to crack on with my girlfriend's painting - it was a bit neglected this week due to my assignment!

On another note, at the start of my Big Painting quest I had declared an amnesty from buying new miniatures.  It took a bit of a lapse a few months back when I bought some items to make a couple of Space Marine objectives, and a few weeks ago when I bought some Epic minis to finish my Epic Fire Storm army (to be painted as soon as I've done the Epic guard army).

Well, this week the new minis amnesty well and truly died a death when I discovered a local toystore, which stocks GW stuff, was selling off ALL its stock at a 3rd off.  As you can probably imagine, after a few moments hyperventilating I grabbed several boxsets - some things I'll need for future armies, some I'll sell on (hopefully for a bit of a profit!).

I returned yesterday planning to buy loads of GW paints (yet ANOTHER price rise on the cards for these, apparently    ), and discovered that the prices had been reduced AGAIN to 50% off!  :o0   So I splurged again, buying a load that I will sell on.  Mercenary, it may be, but I need it for my 'Girlfriend Engagement Ring Fund'.  One of my New Years Resolutions was to control the mini buying habit to save for that, but I'll use what ever profit I make to put some money towards it.  So it's not totally selfish!

I'll post some pics of my splurge (?150 worth!!!) later today.

Hi!

I heard about yet another price hike. They are trying to artificially maintain profit margins this way. It wont last I beleive.

Great mini Firestorm!

Okay, here's my splurge, all ?150 worth of it.  :D  Firstly, I bought these items (and a couple more which I'm keeping) with a third off GW prices:

Next, I got this lot for 50% off!  :(8:

Here's the stuff I'm keeping:

And here's what I'm going to trade - a Terminator Thunder Hammer sprue (mine'll have Lightning Claws, so I've no need for 'em!), a Crusader Sprue, and Bretonnian Archers.  I'm trading these as I wanted some Bretonnian Men-at-Arms to convert in to Traitors for my next 40k army, a Lost and the Damned army.  They didn't have these but they had the Archers, which unfortunately didn't turn out to be appropriate as the arms are sculpted on the minis, and I'd need to convert them to have lasguns.  Easier on the 'armless Men-at-Arms!

Enjoy!

Inspite of exam revision (only the one, hooray!  :D  ) and a spot of decorating, I managed to get another Assault Marine done - and go back and do chevrons on the Meltabombs of the two I had previously done.

I've also been experimenting with lighting again, I've managed to get a set up where I can get clearer pictures, but still a bit on the dark side.  Anyway, here we are:

The one on the left is the latest.  I actually managed to drop it whilst painting it, and in a split-second-type-reactional moment, caught it in my legs.  As soon as I did, I could tell I'd damaged the mini!

I'd managed to bend the chainsword so that it has about half-off at the pommel, which isn't so bad, I just glued it back.

Tomorrow I've my exam  :/  then I will hopefully paint a few more Epic Chimeras - I've very sadly neglected them over the last couple of weeks, but that's uni work for you!
