Well, Tas will read this and maybe you can work it out. He's Aussie Navy, so who knows what they'll have them doing ...

Hmmm, yeah I have been collecting for 5 years now, and I have only played for almost two of those- I finally found a fellow collector that wasn't 7yrs old......
Michael got me into BFG, and I'm now quite adept, which has inspired me to spend my cash on making my fleet bigger and better; my next buy is going to be a Vengeance, a couple of cruisers (I'm planning to start some converting as I have 14 'normal' ones), and a pack of Falchions, painted up differently to the rest, as if they are new 'imports' to the fleet, from another sector...... This little lot will push it over 5000pts at last....

Maybe we should organise an EPIC convention sometime? Maybe the day after a games day so people can come to the games day and then stay on an extra day for a EPIC Tournament, then players can play NetEPIC, Epic40k, Epic:A, AT, SM etc to there hearts content. We can do a win/lose, painting, scores and give a prize to the winner or just share a beer.
Then we can all meet up, and play or just chat and exchange ideas.

Painting & building Epic models and terrain plus working on our hybrid rules is what we spend most of our time on and not gaming.
And even then our time is limited, based on work, family, (going on line), etc. ... ? ?
At one time we were gaming on weekends and even some week days! Ah, the good old days...

Quote (primarch @ 10 2003 June,08:58) | once I discovered that I can pay other people to do it for me, I have no desire to ever paint something ever again |
I had a similar experience, thinking that less painting time = more playing time.
Then I rechecked my bank balance....and reached for my paintbrush once again.

Hi!
I hear that Tas. Commisioning stuff to be painted can be very expensive. But if you look around enough you can find good painters for a reasonable fee.
Who did you use as a painter and how much was the charge? We might as well share some information on painters.

Yeah- too expensive. I mean you get what you pay for and it takes time to paint things up nicely, so I have no conceptual problem paying for good work. Sadly my wallet did not concur with this ethos and so after some investigation, I had to drop the idea as I could either afford the minis, or buy the minis but not both
Maybe a painting service thread would be worthwhile, but would have to be done by region. I dont think you want to be using my local painters for example!

Hi!
Ah! What would you say if one of my better deals was precisely a painter from AUS? The original creator of the Epicentre (Simon Dodds) recommended a friend and I sent my whole Tyranid army to him. Even with shipping it was a good deal. My current painter is from Poland! Although, in that case, I get a good deal, because I provide them with other gaming stuff.
So sending stuff abroad is no impediment if the price is right.

You can add to my list of eccentricities as wanting to paint all my own stuff ... I'm weird that way ...

I'm still working on my E40K Orks, Titans & Gargants. Plus my 'Nids from SM2 & E40K! Oh yes all my F/W Epic IG & Tau are still untouched. So I'm nothing, if not slow ...
