Yep. I spray with an enamel. I don't have an airbrush and testors is cheap. In my early days, I even used a flat enamel as a primer on plastics.
I've never had a problem with enamels obscuring detail, even when I felt like I had put too much on.

Hi!
I'm a big fan of spray painting. While mostly everything I have painted in my life for epic was done the "hard way" by painting by hand. Once I tried spray painting, at least for the major color the model has, I'd never paint entirely by hand again.

I must admit I always go for the easiest painting methords. All my Epic Orks are painted simply buy spraying black, drybrushing Boltgun-Metal and then added details. When I first started painting I too did it the hard way, those nitemareish memories of undercoating with a brush seem very distant now. I find that matt enamel paints are realy good for base coating, Ive always used them both in brush and spray form for this job. They leave a nice flat finish with a slight texture that acrilics realy cling to. Ive never owned an airbrush either... always seemed far too expencive to me.

Spray Painting all the way, baby! Spray undercoat, leave for a while, come back and spray base coat, leave overnight, and you are ready to detail! Wouldn't do it any other way!

Yes ... black spray paint is usually how I start out most of my models.

LOL! Love the tank driver. Who cares what GW says; Have that thing recast and I'll sure buy a couple! Excellent work.

Started painting my driver... so the pics are a lot clearer now. This model was customized by cutting the legs off and reworking the arms "plastic ones" into the new position. Also re-defined the fingers as they were pretty poor. Then made the two V stripes to indicate the rank of Korpral.
I plan to put a number of manic Grots on this BattleWagon. I think their hyper-active poses wll contrast well with my laid-back Ork.

Painted up my first Grot. Ive also started to make some platforms so Im able to sit some ork gunnaz on the battlewagon. They're big anuf to house one ork each, or two if I slightly modify the bases of the orks.

Ok I admit it... there was pretty much no point at all using a Leman Russ coz hardly any of the origanal model showing. Mind u that said, Ive used most of the origanal model in this conversion and not having to scratch build the bit that lets the turret rotate has saved me alot of time n effort.
